Life and Works of Nuri Demirağ
Abstract
Mühürdarzade Nuri olarak da bilinen Nuri Demirağ Sivas'ın Divriği ilçesinde 1886 yılında dünyaya gelmiştir. Nuri Demirağ, ailesinin ekonomik yönden sıkıntıları sebebiyle erken yaşta çalışmak zorunda kalmıştır. On yedi yaşında Ziraat Bankası sınavına girerek başlamış olduğu memuriyet hayatı, daha sonraki dönemlerde çeşitli girişimcilik faaliyetleri ve siyasi yaşamıyla devam etmiştir. Cumhuriyetin ilanı sonrası devlete maliyeti en düşük miktardaki demiryolu ihalesini alarak kilometrelerce demiryolu inşa etmiştir. Türk Hava Kuvvetlerine desteklemek adına para yardımlarıyla uçak satın almanın mantıklı bir yol olmadığını ifade ederek 1936 tarihinde Beşiktaş ilçesinde Uçak Fabrikası ve Atölyesi kurmuş ve akabinde pilot eğitimi verebilmek için okul inşa etmiştir. Nuri Demirağ'ın bir girişimci olarak ülke ekonomisine katkısının yanı sıra yerli ve milli bir sanayinin kurulmasına yönelik bir bilinçle yapmış olduğu faaliyetler öncü nitelikte olması bakımından önem taşımaktadır. Bu doğrultuda çalışmanın amacı Nuri Demirağ'ın yaşamındaki önemli çalışmalarını inceleyerek bu çalışmaların Türk sanayisine, sivil havacılığına katkılarını sistematik olarak ortaya koymak ve siyasi faaliyetlerinin başladığı Milli Kalkınma Partisinin kurulduğu ve faaliyet gösterdiği yıllardaki gelişmeleri incelemektir. Tüm bu amaçlar doğrultusunda, çalışmada kullanılan araştırma yöntemi tarihsel analiz ile birlikte doküman incelemesidir. Araştırma sonucunda ortaya konmuş olan ana hipotez ve temel varsayımlar doğrultusunda, Nuri Demirağ'ın yaşamı boyunca geliştirmiş olduğu düşünce sistemi ve girişimcilik faaliyetleri ile Cumhuriyet döneminin öncü isimlerinden biri olduğu ve Türk sivil havacılığına, ekonomi ve siyasi kurumlarına katkısı bakımından öncü çalışmalara imza atan bir isim olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
Nuri Demirağ, also known as Mühürdarzade Nuri, was born in Divriği district of Sivas in 1886. Nuri Demirağ had to work at an early age due to the economic difficulties of his family. His civil service life, which he started at the age of seventeen by taking the Ziraat Bank exam, continued with various entrepreneurial activities and political life in the following periods. Expressing that it is not a logical way to buy airplanes with financial aid in order to support the Turkish Air Force, he established an Aircraft Factory and Workshop in the district of Beşiktaş in 1936 and then built a school to provide pilot training. In addition to the contribution of Nuri Demirağ to the country's economy as an entrepreneur, the activities he carried out with the awareness of establishing a domestic and national industry have importance in terms of being a Pioneer. In this direction, the aim of the study is to examine the important works of Nuri Demirağ in his life, to systematically reveal the contributions of these studies to Turkish industry and civil aviation, and to examine the developments in the years when the National Development Party, which started its political activities, was founded and operated. In line with all these purposes, the research method used in the study is document review together with historical analysis. In line with the main hypotheses and basic assumptions put forward as a result of the research, Nuri Demirağ is one of the pioneering names of the Republican period with the thought system and entrepreneurship activities he developed throughout his life, and he is a name that has signed pioneering works in terms of his contribution to Turkish civil aviation, economy and political institutions. conclusion has been reached.
