A City Assessment on Education Indicators: the Case of Van (1980-2020)

Abstract

İnsanlık tarihi kadar eski olan eğitim olgusu, arz ettiği önem ve işlevler bakımından ekseriyetle kentlerde varlık göstermiş ve kentsel mekânların yaşam pratikleri arasında yer almıştır. Eğitim, sanayi devrimi, modernleşme ve kentleşme süreçleriyle birlikte bir kentin; toplumsal, kültürel ve ekonomik gelişmişliğini belirleyen önemli parametrelerden biri haline gelerek, günümüz bilgi çağında vazgeçilemez bir realite olmuştur. Bir kent, pek çok gösterge üzerinden okunabilineceği gibi eğitim göstergeleri üzerinden de okunabilinir. Van, 1980'lerle birlikte sürekli göç alan bir kent olmuştur. Nüfusun, kentte, hızla artışı pek çok alanı etkilemiştir. Şüphesiz bu alanlardan birisi de eğitimdir. Bu çalışmada, Van'ın 1980-2020 yılları arasındaki eğitim durumu, 5'er yıllık zaman dilimleri halinde, çeşitli göstergeler üzerinden ortaya konulmaya çalışılarak Doğu Anadolu Bölgesi ve Türkiye ortalamasına göre konumu incelenmiştir. Çalışmada bilimsel araştırma yöntemlerinden betimleme yöntemi kullanılmış, veriler kaynak tarama tekniği ile toplanmıştır. Sonuç olarak, eğitim göstergeleri üzerinden Van kentinin eğitim profili, eğitim sosyolojisi kapsamında ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır.The phenomenon of education, which is as old as the history of humanity In terms of the importance and functions that offers in the city, has mostly existed in cities and has taken its place among the daily practices of urban spaces. The rapid increase in population in the city has affected many sphere. Undoubtedly, one of these sphere is education. In this study, the educational status of Van between the years 1980-2020 was tried to be revealed through various indicators in 5-year time periods and its position relative to the Eastern Anatolia Region and Turkey average was examined.
