Shortly after emergence in the West, the first campus of sociology that already takes place in Ottoman's world of thought has been non-academic thinking platforms. The sedentary identity of sociology at academy starts with the Faculty of Letters in Istanbul University, Chair of Sociology. The number of sociology departments founded/opened in different periods between 1914-2014and actively engaged in undergraduate teaching today has been 79. The purpose of this study will be a trial of periodization of sociology undergraduate teaching being widespread in Turkey and accordingly the history of sociology departments. In this study, a century-old body of sociology teaching in Turkey is evaluated in a chronological order as Establishment Period (1914-1950), Settlement Period (1950-1980), Period of Institutionalization (1980-2000) and Proliferation Period (2000 and later).
