Article Assessment of Melanoma Risk in Acquired Melanocytic Nevi Using Digital Dermoscopic and 3-Point Checklist Score(Yuzuncu Yil Universitesi Tip Fakultesi, 2017) Yavuz, G.Ö.; Akdeniz, N.; Yavuz, İ.H.; Çalka, Ö.; Bilgili, S.G.Among skin cancers if not diagnosed early the highest death rate is for malign melanoma. Many studies has showed that multipl nevi lead to an increased risk of melanoma. It is a good option to take photos of patients in periodic intervals. In our study, we calculated the risk of melanoma in patients with acquired melanocytic nevi with 3-point checklist and digital dermoscopy and we aimed to compare the results and their advantages to each other. We enrolled 300 patients with acquired melanocytic nevi in our study. Cases we enrolled in our study were recorded in the pre-prepared patient follow-up form. In this study Fotofinder HD (Germany) digital dermoscopy instruments were used. Lesions that were regarded as malign by 3-point scoring method were excised and histopathologically evaluated. In statistical calculations significance level of 5% was used and calculations were made with SPSS (ver: 13) statistical package program. 157 of our patients were male (52.3%) and 143 (47.7%) were female. Sensitivity of digital dermoscopy was determined as 86% according to the 3-point checklist. 6 Of the 300 patients were diagnosed as malign melanoma. Sensitivity of the 3-point checklist was determined as 97%. In our study, the results of 3-point checklist were detected higher than previous studies. Since digital dermoscopy is easy to use, this method is convenient especially for inexperienced physicians in the diagnosis of malignancy. But dermoscopic algorithms remain as the first choice for specialist physicians. © 2017, Yuzuncu Yil Universitesi Tip Fakultesi. Generally it is self-limiting, and treatment is often unnecessary, but severe or life-threatening complications are rarely seen. We report a case of fulminant varicella complicating with purpura fulminans, hepatitis, and probable rhabdomyolysis in a previously healthy child.Article Correlation Study Between Clinical Classification and Disability Index in a Holistic Evaluation of Acne Severity and Impact in Turkey(Edizioni Minerva Medica, 2021) Ozlu, E.; Karadag, A.S.; Aksoy, B.; Bilgili, S.G.; Gonul, M.; Yavuz, İ.H.; Chen, W.C.BaCKgrouND: this study provides a comparison between disease severity observed by inspectors and the disease burden assessed by patients is scanty in acne study. METHODS: In a multicenter prospective hospital-based study, modified Comprehensive Acne Severity Scale (mCASS) and Cardiff Acne Disability Index (CADI) were employed to grade disease severity and to determine the quality of life, respectively. The average of the mCASS and CADI scores, with range at 0-25, was termed as Acne Severity and Impact Grading System (ASIG). RESULTS: In 1331 evaluated patients (mean: 21,51±4,93 years), including 306 men and 1025 women, an overall significant, positive correlation was found between ASIG and mCASS (r=0.862), or CADI (r=0.686), respectively (P=0.001 each). Adult women with back acne and adolescent with décolleté expressed greater concern (higher CADI) than the clinical severity (lower mCASS). The overall prevalence of acne in décolleté area, including neck, was 32.3%. CoNCluSIoNS: Discrepancies in the acne severity between self-perception and objective evaluation exist in certain subgroups of patients. Décolleté acne deserves special attention in clinical assessment. © 2020 EDIZIONI MINERVA MEDICAArticle Erythema Multiforme; Sixty Six Case Series With Review of Literature(Yuzuncu Yil Universitesi Tip Fakultesi, 2018) Yavuz, İ.H.; Yavuz, G.Ö.; Bilgili, S.G.; Bayram, İ.; Savaş, H.Erythema multiforme (EM) is an acute, self-limited, and sometimes recurrent skin disease considered to be a hypersensitivity reaction associated with certain medications and infections. EM has recently been recognized as a distinct disease differentiated from the Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN). The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical and histopathological characteristics of patients with EM. The retrospective study included 66 patients who received outpatient or inpatient treatment at the Dermatology department due to a diagnosis of EM between 2005 and 2017. Age, gender, etiological factor, recurrence, significant histopathological findings, presence of target lesions, mucosal involvement, and treatment metho ds were recorded. The 66 patients included 22 (33.3%) men and 44 (66.7%) women with a mean age of 36.7 ±13.9 years. The etiological factor was Herpes labialis in 36.4%, medication in 31.8%, Orf infection in 13.6%, and no etiological factor was detected in 18.2% of the patients. Although EM is a common entity in dermatology practice, there are a limited number of studies reporting on EM. The results indicated that EM can occur secondary to Orf infection. © 2018, Yuzuncu Yil Universitesi Tip Fakultesi. In this study, specific and nonspecific dermatoses of pregnancy were investigated in patients admitted with dermatologic complaints to the emergency department. This information will be useful in identifying common and important dermatoses of pregnancy that need to be recognized at the point of primary care, so that the proper initial treatment and referrals can be instituted. Pregnant patients admitted with dermatological complaints to the emergency service were enrolled in the study. We retrospectively collected clinical and laboratory findings, diagnoses, administered treatments and admission rates. Of the 4,280 pregnant patients admitted to the emergency service, 99 pregnant patients had dermatological complaints. While pregnancy-specific dermatoses were detected in 22 % of the patients, dermatoses nonspecific to the pregnancy were found in 78 % of them. Listed in descending order, specific dermatoses of pregnancy were atopic eruption of pregnancy (12%), polymorphic eruption of pregnancy (6%), intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (2%), and pemphigoid gestationis (2%). Urticaria and angioedema were the most frequently diagnosed diseases among the dermatoses nonspecific to the pregnancy. There are many dermatoses are seen in the pregnancy, while urticaria and angioedema are the most common. Atopic eruption of pregnancy and the polymorphic eruption of pregnancy are the most common specific dermatoses. It was seen that the frequency of dermatological causes was quite low among the pregnant patients applying to the emergency service. However, some of these dermatoses may necessitate early diagnosis and immediate treatment. © 2019, Yuzuncu Yil Universitesi Tip Fakultesi. All rights reserved.
