Conference Object Accidental Salinomycin Intoxication of Angora Goats in Turkey(Elsevier Science Bv, 2002) Agaoglu, ZT; Akgul, Y; Keles, I; Ugras, S; Aksoy, A; Cinar, AThis paper reports for the first time accidental intoxication of Angora goats with salinomycin contaminated feed in Turkey. Clinical, laboratory and postmortem findings are described. Angora goats were examined clinically and biochemical analysis of blood, electrocardiogram and histopathological examinations were carried out. The feed was shown to contain 680 ppm/kg of salinomycin. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. Thirty healthy Van cats were used. Blood was taken from V. saphena of the cats. The means physiological blood parameters were as follows; red blood cell (RBC) 7.66 x 10(6)/mm(3), white blood cell (WBC) 11.75 x 10(3)/mm(3), eosinophil 0.600 x 10(3)/mm(3), and blood platelet 4.2 x 10(5)/mm(3). The mean hemoglobin concentration (Hb) and hematocrit value (PCV) were 12.1 g/dl, and 35.1% respectively. The mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH), and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) were 46.2 mu(3), 15.9 mu mu gr, and 34.5 % respectively. The sedimentation rate was 4.0 mm/l hours in vertical situation. The mean erythrocyte diameter was 5.7 mu. The values of erythrocyte at he begining and en of hemolysis were 0.68% NaCl, and 0.50% NaCl respectively. The leukocyte formula was determined to be as follows; neutrophil 53%, eosionophil 7%, basophil 0%, lymphocyte 38% and monocyte 2%.Editorial Ecg of a Turkish Van Cat With Suspected Hypertrophy and Ventricular Arrythmias(Australian Small Animal veterinary Association, 2003) Cinar, A; Kilcap, D; Atasoy, NArticle Effects of Chronic Fluorosis on Electrocardiogram in Dogs(int Soc Fluoride Research, 2004) Kilicalp, D; Cinar, A; Belge, FThe aim of this study was to determine the effects of chronic fluorosis on the electrocardiogram (ECG) in dogs. A total of sixteen mixed breed dogs (8 fluorotic and 8 healthy), 2 to 3 years old and weighing 18-30 kg, were used in this study. The eight dogs with chronic fluorosis were obtained from the Tendurek Mountain region (altitude about 2000 m) in Eastern Anatolia. All ECG waves were observed in all of the leads. Sinus bradycardia was seen in dogs with chronic fluorosis. Prolonged P-Q interval (P<0.05) was present. The duration and amplitude of T wave was higher and longer (P<0.05) in the fluorosis group. As a result, the number of heart beats/minute was decreased significantly (p<0.05) from 120.4+/-15 in the control group to 80.7+/-14 in dogs with fluorosis. The average electrical axis of the heart changes were between +60degrees and +100degrees in both groups. The average electrical axis was +80degrees in the control group and +75degrees in the fluorotic dogs.Article Effects of Chronic Fluorosis on Thyroxine, Triiodothyronine, and Protein-Bound Iodine in Cows(int Soc Fluoride Research, 2005) Cinar, A; Selcuk, MThis study was conducted to evaluate the effects of chronic fluorosis in cows on their blood serum levels of thyroxine (T-4), triiodothyronine (TA and protein-bound iodine (PBI). Data collected from twenty cows with chronic fluorosis in the Tendurek Mountain region (altitude about 2000 m) in East Anatolia, Turkey, were compared with data from ten healthy cows from the Van region (altitude 1700 m). Statistically significant differences (p < 0.05) between the serum values in the fluorotic cows and the controls were found: 5.7 +/- 0.48 vs 3.7 +/- 0.45 mu g/dL for T-4, 1.53 +/- 0.038 vs 0.97 +/- 0.051 ng/mL for T-3, and 3.8 +/- 0.29 vs 2.6 +/- 0.23 mu g/dL for PBI. Hypothyroidism was therefore evident in the cows with chronic fluorosis.Article The Electrocardiogram of the Pekin Duck(Amer Assoc Avian Pathologists, 1996) Cinar, A; Bagci, C; Belge, F; Uzun, MIn this study, standard limb lead electrocardiograms (EGG) were recorded in 50 Pekin ducks. The ECG exhibited P, R, S, and T waves. A Q wave was observed in 30% of leads aVR aVL. All waves in lead I were of very low amplitude or almost isoelectric. The P wave was 20% negative, 80% positive in lead aVR and always positive in other leads. The duration and amplitude of P wave were 0.025 sec and 0.17 mV, respectively and the P-R interval was 0.06 sec in lead II. A Q wave was observed in 30% of leads aVR and aVL but was invisible in other leads. The duration of QRS complex was 0.036 sec and its amplitude was 0.069 mV. The S wave (rS) was greater than the R wave in leads III and aVE The R and S waves were equal in lead III (66%). The mean duration and amplitude of T wave were 0.05 sec and 0.22 mV, respectively. The T wave was negative in leads aVR and aVL and positive in other leads. The Q-T interval was 0.10 sec. The mean heart rate was 281.3 (220-375) beats/min. The average value of the mean electrical axis was +147 degrees (+95 degrees to -160 degrees).
