Article The Effect of Technology Assisted Teaching on Success in Mathematics and Geometry: a Meta-Analysis Study(Ozgen Korkmaz, 2022) Çavuş, H.; Deniz, S.In this research, experimental studies comparing the effectiveness of technology-assisted teaching to traditional method up on mathematical and geometry success are combined through meta-analytical review method. For that purpose, articles, master’s, and doctoral theses carried out between the years 2000-2016 in Turkey are examined. 98 studies on academic achievement meet the specified criteria and thus were included in the meta-analysis and the effect size between variables has been demonstrated by assembling numerically the findings of these studies. CMA 2.0, MS Office Excel 2010 programs were used in the analysis of the data. As a result of the calculations of meta-analysis, the effect size of the technology-assisted teaching is calculated as 0,758 on students' mathematics achievement and as 1,136 on students' geometry achievement. This study is based on the classification system according to Cohen (1988). The effect sizes attained represent a medium effect size for mathematics academic achievement and a very large size for geometry achievement. Those both values are regarded as medium effect size according to Cohen (1988). In addition, the comparative effect sizes of the studies included in the study were calculated according to techniques of implementation, level of education and learning fields. At the end of the research, it is found that according to the traditional learning method of technology-assisted mathematic and geometry teaching is more effective in terms of achievement. It is concluded that the effect size on the academic achievement of mathematic and geometry does not differ according to time of implementation, level of education, and learning fields. © 2022, Ozgen Korkmaz. As the vegetation period progressed, the dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and acid detergent fiber (ADF) contents increased, and the crude ash (CA), crude protein (CP) and ether extract (EE) contents decreased (p<0.05). The effects of the triticale ratio on the parameters between the groups were significant (p<0.05) except for ADF. As this ratio increased, the DM, CA and NDF contents of the silages increased, their OM levels decreased, and there was no change in CP, EE and ADF. As the vegetation period progressed, the lactic acid (LA) and acetic acid (AA) contents of the silages decreased, and their Fleig scores increased (p<0.05). The effects of triticale ratio on the parameters were significant except for propionic acid (PA) (p<0.05). As the vegetation period progressed, the dry matter digestibility (DMD), organic matter digestibility (OMD) and energy values of the silages decreased (p<0.05). In comparison to the control, the highest DMD, OMD and energy levels were found with triticale added at 20%. If forage turnip is ensiled with triticale forage at ratios of 10% to 30%, the obtained silages are quality silages, and can be used as an alternative, quality source of roughage in the ruminants feeding.Article Effects of Sodium Bicarbonate, Magnesium Oxide and Dried Sugar Beet Pulp in Diets of Dairy Cows on Milk Yield, Milk Composition and Rumen Fluid and Some Blood Parameters(2010) Kaplan, O.; Deniz, S.; Akif Karsli, M.; Nursoy, H.; Avci, M.The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of buffering agent (NaHCO3 and MgO) or substituting Dried Sugar Beet Pulp (DSBP) with barley on milk yield, composition of milk, some blood parameters and ruminal fermentation in cows. In the experiment, four lactating Holstem cows with similar age, lactation period and milk yield were utilized. Cows with second phase of lactation were selected. Treatments consisted of control (40% Barley), control+1 % NaHCO3 (NaHCO3), control+1 % NaHCO3+0,5% MgO (MgO) and barley substituted with DSBP. All diets were calculated to be isocaloric and iso-nitogeneous. The experiment was a 4×4 Latin square design. While milk yield was significantly higher in animals fed diets containing NaHCO3+MgO compared with animals fed control, compositions of milk were not significantly different among the groups. Addition of NaHCO3, NaHCO3+ MgO significantly increased (p<0.05) acetic acid concentrations but did not affect blood parameters. In conclusion addition of NaHCO3 or NaHCO3 + MgO increased milk yield but did not affect composition of milk. An increase m ruminal acetic acid concentrations and acetic/propiomc acid ratio due to buffering agent is an important finding. It must be revaluated the use of supplements in feeding diets since they decrease propionic acid level. © Medwell Journals, 2010.Article Forage Turnip (Brassica Rapa) Harvested in Different Phases of Vegetative Stage and Ensiled With the Additives of Molasses and Barley and the Effects of Additives on Silage Quality, in Vitro Igestibility, and Energy Content(TUBITAK, 2022) Yildiz, S.; Deniz, S.; Özkan, F.; KALE, Ç.This study was conducted to determine the silage quality, in vitro digestibility and energy content of forage turnip (Brassica rapa) ensiled with molasses or ground barley. Forage turnip was harvested at three different stages: the beginning, middle and end of the flowering period, and it was ensiled with no additive (control), 5% molasses or 4% ground barley. In the trial, pH, nutrient contents, ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N) contents, volatile fatty acid (VFA) contents, Fleig scores, in vitro digestibility and energy content were determined. It was observed that the effect of the vegetative stage on the difference between the groups was significant (p < 0.05). Accordingly, with the progression of the vegetative stage, the contents of dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), ether extract (EE), neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and acid detergent fiber (ADF) showed an increase while a decrease was observed in crude protein (CP). The effects of the additives on the difference between the groups were found to be significant except for the CP parameter (p < 0.05). Molasses and barley addition to the silages increased DM, OM and EE contents and reduced the levels of NDF and ADF. With the progression of the vegetative stage, lactic acid (LA) and acetic acid (AA) values decreased while pH values and Fleig scores increased. The effects of additives were found to be insignificant for all parameters except for AA and Fleig scores. As the vegetative stage progressed, the dry matter digestibility (DMD), organic matter digestibility (OMD), digestible energy (DE), metabolic energy (ME) and net energy for lactation (NEL) values of the silages decreased significantly (p < 0.05). The addition of molasses or barley, compared to the control, resulted in a significant increase in the levels of DMD, OMD, DE, ME, and NEL (p < 0.05). In conclusion, in parallel with the progression of the vegetative stage, the DMD, OMD, DE, ME, and NEL values of the silages decreased, increasing with the addition of the additives, and the obtained silages were of high-quality as alternative quality roughage in ruminant feeding. © 2022 TUBITAK.
