Article The Analysis on Photovoltaic Electricity Generation Status, Potential and Policies of the Leading Countries in Solar Energy(Pergamon-elsevier Science Ltd, 2011) Dincer, FurkanEnergy, which is the main agenda of our world, is crucially important for the people. Many countries frequently held meetings and discussions with energy agenda. These countries are working to balance the energy demand and supply. For finding the solution are researched, researches should be attempted to present a more efficient way to use energy as well as renewable energy resources effectively. Photovoltaic energy power systems take place as the most dominant source among renewable energy technologies. The most important reason is that it is unlimited and clean energy of the solar power systems. Many studies show that photovoltaic power systems will have an important share in the electricity of the future. In this study, to generate electricity from solar energy using photovoltaic systems have a leading position in some European countries, United States of America, China and Japan's current status and future policies will be analyzed in various comments were made. Published by Elsevier Ltd.Article Economic Analysis and Modeling Process of Photovoltaic Power Systems(Wydawnictwo Sigma-n O T Sp Z O O, 2011) Rustemli, Sabir; Dincer, FurkanThe importance of renewable energy sources is increasing in our world. Solar energy is the most natural, unlimited, ergonomic, environmentally friendly, useful and available everywhere source among of the renewable energy sources. The installed capacity of solar energy in electricity generation is increasing rapidly all of the countries. The most important part of photovoltaic power installed projects is cost-effective of projects for these systems installations because millions of dollars are being invested to it. This study is crucial in this respect. An example of location is determined and is designed for photovoltaic installation according to the European Commission Photovoltaic Geographical Information System for the city of Van where is the east of Turkey. Needs of the system, system equipments, design style and how it should be established are indicated and worked while considering the geographical coordinates of the location. A detailed study has been prepared taking into consideration all these data. It is a fact that such a system designing would serve as an example for all photovoltaic applications in the world.Article Overview of the Photovoltaic Technology Status and Perspective in Turkey(Pergamon-elsevier Science Ltd, 2011) Dincer, FurkanThe Republic of Turkey, located in Southeastern Europe and Southwestern Asia (that portion of Turkey west of the Bosporus is geographically part of Europe). Nowadays, Turkey with its young population and growing energy demand per person, its fast growing urbanization, and its economic development, has been one of the fast growing electrical energy markets of the world for the last two decades. Unfortunately, Turkey's energy is largely dependent on foreign countries and the country's energy is imported spending billions of dollars each year. On the other hand, the effects on global and environmental air quality of pollutants released into the atmosphere from fossil fuels in electric power plants provide strong arguments for the development of renewable energy resources. Solar energy is one of the best available among renewable energy sources. There are possess many advantages of solar energy such as relativity, viability, silent, non-polluting, little maintenance, suitable for remote site application, not require any fuel and independent from electricity network. Turkey has advanced a great deal in the generation of electricity from solar energy because of much higher solar energy potential than lots of developed countries on solar energy applications. This study is taken into account that overview of the photovoltaic technology status and perspective in Turkey and the contains of photovoltaic power systems utilization and potential status in the world, energy consumption and demand in Turkey, geographic description of the solar energy in Turkey, PV industry current and potential status in Turkey, solar energy legislation framework in Turkey. R&D status of photovoltaic industry in Turkey, future strategy of PV industry in Turkey, current and future status photovoltaic power systems economics in the world. Also, this paper on the basis of this subjects is analyzed the SWOT of Turkey's photovoltaic industry, its advantages, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. (C) 2011 Elsevier Ltd. NuriIn the early days of photovoltaic panels, some 50 years ago, the energy required to generate a photovoltaic panel was more than the energy the panel could generate during its lifetime. As a result of many years of research and experimental studies with today this time can drop up to 3-4 years according to the incentive policies of the some countries. Only obstacle to widespread adoption of photovoltaic panels is cost of their. Therefore, even small studies on photovoltaic panel have great importance to reduce the cost of photovoltaic panel. One of the most important ones is the panel temperature and environmental effects because these factors are affected the panel temperature. In this study, environmental factors that affect to electricity generation capacity of photovoltaic panels have obtained as detailed style with modeling and simulation is designed by Matlab/Simulink programme. Also, environmental factors is added to the model and is entered the system. In addition to this situation were applied on loaded. With this modeling the effects of environmental factors for photovoltaic panels are designed and discussed as detailed by Matlab/Simulink programme.Article A Review of the Factors Affecting Operation and Efficiency of Photovoltaic Based Electricity Generation Systems(Pergamon-elsevier Science Ltd, 2011) Meral, Mehmet Emin; Dincer, FurkanOne of the most popular techniques of renewable energy generation is the installation of photovoltaic (PV) systems using sunlight to generate electrical power. There are many factors that affecting the operation and efficiency of the PV based electricity generation systems, such as PV cell technology, ambient conditions and selection of required equipment. There is no much study that presents all factors affecting efficiency and operation of the entire PV system, in the literature. This paper provides a detailed review of these factors and also includes suggestions for the design of more efficient systems. The presented detailed overview will be useful to people working on theory, design and/or application of photovoltaic based electricity generation systems. (C) 2011 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
