Article Can Retrovert Uterus Be a Cause of Recurrent Temporal Acute Urinary Retention During Pregnancy(TIP ARASTIRMALARI DERNEGI, 2013) Geçit, I.; Benli, E.; Güneş, M.; Pirincci, N.; Kurdoǧlu, Z.; Eren, H.Urinary retention developing in early period of pregnancy is a rare but urgent condition. A few literatures were encountered on this issue. Retrovert uterus, endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory event-related adhesions, ectopic pregnancy and intramural myomas are among predisposing factors. These factors cause stucking of uterus in pelvic cavity by hindering elevation of uterus in the abdomen and acute urinary retention may develop as the result of pressure to urinary bladder floor and urethra The case who developed the urinary retention in her three sequential pregnancies has been discussed in the light of the literature in this paper.Article Laparoscopic Transperitoneal Nephrectomy in Non-Functioning Inflammatory Kidneys With or Without Renal Stone(verduci Publisher, 2015) Kaba, M.; Pirincci, N.; Taken, K.; Gecit, I.; Demiray, O.; Eren, H.OBJECTIVE: To compare our laparoscopic simple nephrectomy results in non-functioning inflammatory kidneys with or without renal stones. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Patients, who underwent laparoscopic transperitoneal nephrectomy for non-functioning kidney between June, 2010 and October, 2014 were included to study. Overall, data of 32 patients including 15 patients with renal stone (Group 1) and 17 patients without renal stone (Group 2) were retrospectively reviewed. RESULTS: Mean age was 44.4 +/- 18.5 years (10-71) in group 1 and 35.2 +/- 21 years (9-77) in group 2. Mean operation time was 95.0 +/- 25.9 minutes (70-175) in group 1 and 86.7 +/- 15.1 minutes (70-125) in group 2. Mean estimated blood loss was found to be 64.13 +/- 26.67 ml (30-120) in group 1 and 58.94 +/- 24.24 ml (30-100) in group 2. Both groups had inflammatory findings in pathological analysis. There was no significant difference between groups regarding estimated blood loss, operation time, pre-operative and post-operative hemoglobin values, percent hemoglobin decrease, complications and hospitalization times (p > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Non-functioning kidney with or without renal stone could be operated safely with comparable complication rates and success via laparoscopy in experienced hands.Article Prevalence of Larval-Stage Dicrocoeliidae (Digenea) Trematodes in Helix Lucorum (Mollusca: Pulmonata) in Van Province(2017) Ünlü, A.H.; Bilgiç, H.B.; Eren, H.; Karagenç, T.OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of larval-stage Dicrocoeliidae trematodes in Helix lucorum, a land snail found in Van Province.; METHODS: Helix lucorum snails were collected in April, May, and June 2017 from Edremit and Gevaş, the central districts of Van Province, especially from natural areas where ruminants predominate. The snails were anesthetized with magnesium chloride, were removed from their shells, and their digestive glands were disrupted. The disrupted parts were examined under a microscope.; RESULTS: In Van Province, H. lucorum snails were found to be intermediate hosts for Dicrocoelium trematodes with a prevalence of 22%. The larval stages detected in the microscope are photographed and shown in detail. The number of infection with larval stages of the parasite was found to be highest in May.; CONCLUSION: Helix lucorum the land snail, serves as an intermediate host for some developmental stages of the Dicrocoeliid trematodes, is also consumed as nutrients by humans in some countries. Based on the obtained results in this study, it can be concluded that this snail would have important effects on animal health in the Van region which has a hard climate and a border with Iran.
