Article Breast Hamartoma: Radiologic Appearances(2003) Harman, M.; Ünal, Ö.; Uǧraş, S.; Etlik, Ö.; Kotan, Ç.Article A Case of Isolated Cns Relaps With Atipik Clinical Presentation in an Acute Myeloblastic Leukemia Patient(2005) Bay, A.; Öner, A.F.; Etlik, Ö.; Doǧan, M.; Izmirli, M.After the recent advances in chemotherapy and supportive care, survival and the number of extrameduller relaps have increased in childhood acute myeloblastic leukemia (AML). However isolated central nervous system (CNS) relaps is a rare event in AML. We reported a 7 years old child, who presented with dyspnea, diagnosed isole CNS relaps at the 30th week of maintance chemotherapy protocol of AML. He admitted to our emergency service with the complain of dispne. Respiratory track infection or other pathology was not found on phsycal examination and labaratuary tests. On follow up, lumbar puncture was performed to the patient having no any improvement in dispne to evaluate the CNS disorders. Cerebro spinal fluid examination showed a lot of blastic cell and thus isolated CNS relaps was diagnosed. Cranial MRI showed an enlargement at pons and bulbus corresponding leukemic infiltration. Dispne were resolved just after the beginning of administration intratechal and systemic reinduction chemotherapy.Article Central Diabetes Insipidus Following Intracranial Hemorrhage Due To Vitamin K Deficiency in a Neonate(2005) Çaksen, H.; Odabaş, D.; Kaya, A.; Cesur, Y.; Kiymaz, N.; Etlik, Ö.; Turhan, S.A previously healthy 30-day-old girl presented with seizures, irritability and inability to sleep for three days. Vitamin K was not given just after birth. She was lethargic. A multifocal clonic seizure was evident during examination. Anisocoria was diagnosed on eye examination. Brain magnetic resonance imaging showed intracerebral hemorrhage, ventricular dilatation, and hematoma in the left temporofrontal region extending to the hypothalamus. Central diabetes insipidus was diagnosed by water deprivation due to dehydration and hypernatremia, and then desmopressin was added to phenobarbital. The possible mechanism of central diabetes insipidus in our patient is damage of vasopressin pathway resulting from compression of hemorrhage. An operation of ventriculoperitoneal shunt was also performed due to hydrocephalus. While she was symptom-free except for neurological sequel during routine control examinations after discharging from hospital, the parents said that she died, most probably from bronchopneumonia, at the age of 7.5 months. In conclusion, we emphasize that prophylactic vitamin K should be administrated to all babies just after birth, and infants with intracranial hemorrhage should carefully be monitored for central diabetes insipidus.Article High-Dose Steroid-Related Osteonecrosis in a Four-Year Child With Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia(2005) Bay, A.; Öner, A.F.; Etlik, Ö.; Doǧan, M.Osteonecrosis is an uncommon complication of acute lymphoblastic leukemia. One of the risk factor is high-dose corticosteroid therapy. The highest incidence of osteonecrosis is observed in children 9 to 18 years old at diagnosis and it is a rare condition below 5 years of age. We describe a 4 year-old child with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and complaints of progressive bone pain and walking difficulty who developed osteonecrosis and bone fracture after two remission induction chemotherapy.Article Immature Cystic Teratoma: Case Report(2005) Etlik, Ö.; Bay, A.; Doǧan, E.; Izmirli, M.; Temizöz, O.The objective of this study was to compare Multidedector computerised tomography (MDCT) imaging findings of immature teratoma with mature cystic teratoma. The MDCT findings of the patient with pathologically proven immature teratoma were reviewed for tumor size, presence and characteristics of fatty content, solid components, presence of ascites, and implants. On CT images all lesions appeared to be fat-containing tumors with solid components consisting of numerous cysts of various sizes. Punctate foci of fat were identified in all lesions. The MDCT images of immature teratoma predominantly showed solid components consisting fewer foci of adipose tissue and calcifications, whereas predominant fluid, fat and calcifications were present in mature cystic teratoma.Article Recurrent Pleomorphic Adenoma of Orbit: Case Report(Turkish Neurosurgical Society, 2005) Yilmaz, N.; Kiymaz, N.; Etlik, Ö.; Mumcu, Ç.; Bayram, I.Pleomorphic adenoma is the most common epithelial tumors of the human lacrimal gland, comprising about 50% of all the tumors. Although malignant transformation is not frequent, intraoperative tumor spill or inadequate resection may be associated with an increase in the recurrence rate of pleomorphic adenoma. Postoperative irradiation following tumor resection appears to decrease the probability of recurrence. In this study, we present a 37-year old woman with recurrent pleomorphic adenoma of the lacrimal gland eight months after the first operation.Article An Unusual Choledochal Echinococcosis(2006) Kisli, E.; Baser, M.; Kotan, Ç.; Arslantürk, H.H.; Etlik, Ö.; Bayram, I.Hydatid disease caused by the Echinococcus granulosus is a common health problem in Turkey, Middle East and Mediterranean Countries. The most affected organs are the liver and the lungs. The other organ involvements such as spleen, kidney, brain and muscle are rare. Here we present a case of hydatid cyst of the choledochus with an inactive group of liver hydatid cyst, producing obstructive jaundice.
