Article Determining the Typologies of Basketball Fans(Sage Publications inc, 2024) Halici, Alperen; Otkan, Can cavinThis research aims to determine the typologies of basketball fans and reveal whether the variables differ according to the typologies. Criterion sampling, one of the purposive sampling methods, was used in the sample selection to determine the typologies of basketball fans. In this context, 211 fans were included in the study. The "Fan Typology Scale" was used as a data collection tool. Skewness and kurtosis values were examined to determine whether the data set was suitable for normal distribution. After examining the data distribution, a two-stage hierarchical clustering analysis was used to reveal the fan typology, and the research questions were tested with ANOVA and chi-square analyses. As a result, it was determined that basketball fans consist of three typologies. These are fanatic, classical, and social fans. When the distribution of fan groups according to typologies was analyzed, it was determined that most (43.6%) were classical, and the least (20.9%) were fanatic fans. Hooligan fans with violent tendencies did not emerge in this study conducted specifically for basketball. Considering the results that the percentage of fanatic fans with high averages in both fan behavior variables and motivations to support the team is lower in the distribution of basketball fans and that classic and social fan groups with motivations, such as entertainment and socializing rather than supporting the team are in the majority, it can be said that meeting fan expectations is a more critical factor for basketball clubs compared to football clubs.Conference Object Examination of Burnout Levels and Academic Procrastination of University Students(E D P Sciences, 2017) Demir, Gonul Tekkursun; Halici, Alperen; Otkan, Can CavinIn this study, the relationship between the academic procrastination and the students' burnout levels was examined. 406 students from different departments at Gazi University Sports Sciences Faculty participated in the research. In order to collect data, the student version of Maslach's Burnout Inventory and the Academic Procrastination Scale (APS) were used in the study. It was determined that the students at the faculty of sports science did not show any significant difference in terms of gender variable according to MBI-SF and APS. When analyzed in terms of department variable, there was a significant difference in the MBI-SF subscales, while no significance was observed in the total score of APS. Similar results were obtained in the APS total scores among the grades; but there was significance in the subscales of MBI-SF. The analyses indicated that a statistically significant negative relationship at medium level was found between the MBI-SF and APS. The results of the analyses also indicated that there was a statistically significant negative relationship between academic procrastination and student burnout levels.Article Examining the Personalities of Football Fans According To Their Typologies(Sage Publications Ltd, 2024) Halici, Alperen; Igdir, Emre CanThis study aims to determine the typologies of football fans and reveal whether personality traits differ according to typologies. In this context, 353 fans who watched the match of the team they support at least twice from the stadium in the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 Turkish Football Super League and First League were included in the study. Based on these results, 353 fans were included in the study, and related analyses were carried out. "Fan Typology Scale" and "Adjective-Based Personality Test (ABPT)" were used as data collection tools. A two-stage hierarchical clustering analysis was used to reveal the fan typology, and the research questions were tested with analysis of variance and chi-square analyses. As a result, four types of fans were obtained in the study: hooligan, fanatic, classic, and social. When the personality traits of the obtained typologies were analyzed, it was found that extraversion, openness to experience, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness to innovation scores were high, and emotional instability scores were average. However, it was determined that there were no statistically significant differences in the personality traits of the typologies. It is thought that the fact that the personality traits of hooligan fans showing violent tendencies are similar to the classical, social, and fanatic fans will contribute to the literature as one of the striking results of this study.
