Article Effects of Various Antioxidant Pretreatment Modalities on Adhesion To Sound and Caries-Affected Dentin: an in Vitro Study(Sage Publications india Pvt Ltd, 2021) Degirmenci, Beyza Unalan; Degirmenci, Alperen; Kara, EmineAim: Natural antioxidants were offered as the answer of dentin adhesion issue. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of proanthocyanidin and lycopene as pretreatment agents on the sound and caries-affected dentin surface on microtensile bond strength and microleakage. Materials and Methods: This study was designed as in vitro because of that 84 mandibular molar teeth were collected. Forty-two of the included teeth were carious teeth, while the other 42 were without caries. Sixty of them were used for microleakage and 24 for microtensile bond strength testing and scanning electron microscopy analysis. The samples were divided into six subgroups randomly according to dentin pretreatments: 5% proanthocyanidin, 5% lycopene, and no antioxidant application. After the restorative procedures, samples were attached to the microtensile tester. Samples were subjected to tensile stress in the load cell until they broke at a speed of 0.5 mm per min. Microtensile bond strength (mu TBS) and microleakage test data were analyzed with two-way analysis of variance, Bonferroni correction, and Tamhane's T2 tests. Results: Two-way variance analysis showed that dentin pretreatment applications, dentin substrate, and the interaction between these two parameters had statistically significant effects on mu TBS values (P < .001). There was no difference between dentin pretreatment applications in terms of microleakage scores (P > .05). Conclusion: The application of dentin pretreatment with proanthocyanidin is a successful procedure that increases the bond strength in both dentin substrate, while pretreatment with lycopene in caries-affected dentin reduces it.Article Influence of the Er,cr:ysgg Laser and Different Irrigation Methods on Push-Out Bond Strength of Fiber Post(Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2016) Cokuk, Neslihan; Kara, Emine; Kaki, Devrim; Aydogdu, Murat; Saridag, SerkanEr,Cr:YSGG lasers are currently being investigated for disinfecting the root canal treatment. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of various irrigation protocols on push-out bond strength of fiber posts. Fifty maxillary anterior teeth were divided into five groups (n=10) according to the protocol that applied into the post space. Group-1: distilled water, Group-2: 5% NaOCl, Group-3: 2% CHX, Group-4: Er,Cr:YSGG laser (1.5W, 20Hz, 85 air, 75 water, 26.7J/cm(2)), Group-5: Er,Cr:YSGG laser (1.25W, 50Hz, 34 air, 24 water, 12.7J/cm(2)). Fiber posts were cemented with resin cement. The remaining part of the root, three slices were obtained from each specimen and push-out test was performed. One-way ANOVA and Duncan's test at a 5% level of significance were used for the statistical analysis. Post space irradiation with Er,Cr:YSGG laser (1.5W 20Hz, 85 air, 75 water, 26.7J/cm(2)) increases push-out bond strength of fiber post to root canal dentin. Further investigations are needed to establish and optimize ER,Cr:YSGG laser parameters to increase the push-out bond strength of fiber posts.Article Üç Farklı Universal Adeziv Sistemin Dentine Makaslama Bağlanma Dayanımlarının Karşılaştırılması(2015) Türk, Gülnur Işıl; Kara, EmineAmaç: Çalışmanın amacı üç farklı universal dentin bağlayıcı ajanın self-etch modda kullanımının dentin yüzeyindeki makaslama bağlanma dayanımı kuvvetlerini araştırmaktır. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Çalışmamızda kullanılmak üzere 36 adet sağlam molar diş seçildi ve okluzal mineleri uzaklaştırıldı. Açığa çıkan dentin yüzeyinde 600, 800, 1000 ve 1200 gritlik zımparalar kullanılarak standart bir smear tabakası elde edildi. Dişler okluzal yüzeyleri açıkta kalacak şekilde akrile gömüldü ve 3 gruba ayrıldı (n=12); 1. Grup: 3M Single Bond Universal (3M ESPE, Amerika), 2. Grup: G-aenial Bond (GC, Japonya), 3. Grup: Clearfil Universal Bond (Kuraray, Japonya). Bağlayıcı ajanların üretici firmaların talimatlarına göre uygulanmasının ardından ışıkla polimerize edilerek üzerlerine plastik aparatlar vasıtasıyla (Ultradent) kompozit (Tetric EvoCeram, Ivoclar, Vivadent, İsviçre) yerleştirildi. Bonding ve kompozit LED ışık cihazı ile polimerize edildi. 24 saat oda sıcaklığında distile suda bekletilen örnekler universal bir test cihazı ile makaslama dayanımı testine 0.5mm/dak hızla tabi tutuldu. Kırılma yüzey analizleri ışık mikroskobunda yapıldı. Elde edilen veriler one way Anowa ve Post Hoc Tukey testleri ile değerlendirildi. Bulgular: İstatistiksel analizler sonucunda elde edilen değerler: 3M Single Bond Universal (14,44 ± 3,38 mPa), G-aenial (12,32 ± 3,75 mPa), Clearfil Universal Bond (11,30 ± 2,92 mPa). Gruplar arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark bulunamadı (p>0.05). Sonuç: Test edilen üç farklı universal adeziv sistem de sağlam dentine aynı derecede makaslama bağlanma dayanımı göstermiştir. Bu sonuçların klinik çalışmalarla da desteklenmesi gerekmektedir.
