Article The Effects of Inhalation Anaesthetics Made With Halothane and Isoflurane on Some Biochemical Parameters in Sheep(Mezogazda Kiado Kft, 2002) Atasoy, N; Gündüz, H; Gençcelep, M; Karakaya, C; Mercan, NThis study was undertaken to determine the effects of halothane and isoflurane on the functions of different organs. A total of 20 sheep were used as material. Ten of them were anaesthetized with halothane (1%) and the other 10 with isoflurane (1.5%). Blood samples were taken from v. jugularis before (BA), during (DA) and after anaesthesia (AA). Sera were collected and analysed for glucose, BUN, creatinine, total bilirubin, AST, ALT, amylase, LDH, CK, CK-MB, ALP, Ca, Na, K and Cl. The effects of the anaesthetics on the parameters were evaluated statistically. These parameters did not change significantly in isoflurane anaesthesia (p>0.05), but in halothane anaesthesia glucose (DA) (p<0.05), creatinine (AA) (p<0.01) and AST (AA) (p<0.05) levels changed significantly. It was concluded that isoflurane can be tolerated better than halothane by sheep and its application did not have destructive effects on the metabolism of pancreas, kidney, liver and muscle.Conference Object The Evaluation of Embryo Transfer Depth in Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection Cycles(Elsevier Science inc, 2005) Bozdag, G; Esinler, I; Sokmensuer, LK; Karakaya, C; Gunalp, S; Yarali, HArticle Levels of Some Trace Elements and Rheumatoid Factor in Sheep With Brucellosis(Humana Press inc, 2004) Ekin, S; Kozat, S; Gunduz, H; Mert, N; Karakaya, CBrucellosis is a zoonotic disease that is encountered in sheep rather frequently. In this study, 100 sheep diagnosed with brucellosis that had aborts and 40 healthy sheep were used as materials. Analyses for Cu, Zn, Fe, Cr, Ca, Mg, and K were performed with the atomic absorption spectrophotometric method on blood collected from vena jugularis of all the sheep and rheumatoid factor levels were determined by the nephelometry method. Although it was found that Cu, Ca, and rheumatoid factor values in the sera of the sheep with brucellosis were high when compared to the control group (p<0.001, p<0.05, p<0.001, respectively), their serum Zn values were low (p<0.05). No significant changes in serum Cr, Fe, K, and Mg levels were found.Article The Prevalence of Pancreatitis in Organophosphate Poisonings(Arnold, Hodder Headline Plc, 2002) Sahin, I; Onbasi, K; Sahin, H; Karakaya, C; Ustun, Y; Noyan, TObjective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of pancreatitis in cases of organophosphate (OP) poisonings admitted to Yuzuncu Yil University Teaching Hospital over an 18-month period. Materials and Methods: A total of 47 patients of acute poisoning with OP insecticides attended the Emergency Department of the Yuzuncu Yil Medical School Hospital, from May 1999 to December 2000, and were prospectively studied. Serum amylase and lipase levels were studied with colorimetric assay. Serum SGOT, SGPT, LDH, CPK, K levels, leukocyte count and total hospitalization days were also evaluated. Results: Four of 47 patients had obviously elevated amylase and lipase levels (amylase > 300 U/L, lipase > 60 U/L). Only two of the patients with amylase levels between 100 and 300 V/L had also elevated levels of lipase. None of the patients with normal amylase levels had elevated levels of lipase. A total of 12.76% was diagnosed as acute pancreatitis. Conclusion: Acute pancreatitis as a complication of OP intoxication is not a rare condition. In order to improve the outcome of OP poisoning, early diagnosis of acute pancreatitis is important and serum levels of amylase and lipase should be routinely considered carefully. In acute pancreatitis, serum levels of SGOT, SGPT, LDH and leukocyte counts may also be found to be elevated. However, serum K levels are only slightly decreased.Conference Object The Retention of the Embryos in the Embryo Transfer Catheter Does Not Affect Icsi-Et Outcome(Elsevier Science inc, 2005) Bozdag, G; Esinler, I; Sever, A; Bayar, U; Karakaya, C; Yarali, H
