In field trapping experiments in Turkey, testing different colours and floral volatile compounds, a combination of fluorescent yellow colour and a blend of 2-phenylethanol and (+/-)-lavandulol leads to the highest number of Oxythyrea cinctella (Schaum) being caught. Trap catches of O. cinctella with respect to the individually presented visual or olfactory cues are significantly lower than to a combination of the two. The closely-related O. funesta, a sibling species in the Oxythyrea genus, is also known to be caught by the same colour-volatile combination. When applied together in a high capture-capacity trap, the fluorescent yellow colour and the binary floral odour blend may provide a suitable means of monitoring population changes of O. cinctella, which indicates their potential use in agriculture.Article Molecular and Morphological Studies on the Genus Pseudococcus Westwood (Hemiptera: Coccomorpha: Pseudococcidae) in Turkey(Magnolia Press, 2023) Kaydan, Mehmet Bora; Akkopru, Evin Polat; Yerlikaya, Huseyin; da Silva, Vitor Cezar PachecoMealybugs (Hemiptera: Coccomorpha: Pseudococcidae) include economically important insect pests worldwide. Pseudo -coccus Westwood is the second biggest genus in Pseudococcidae, with several pest species. Pseudococcus adult females were collected and identified from wild and cultivated plants in Turkey. Molecular and morphological characters were analyzed to investigate the relationship among species. It was recognized that Pseudoccoccus species are shown in three distinctive groups concerning to both morphological and molecular aspects.Article New Records of Psilophrys Parvulus and Its Host Kermes Bacciformis From Turkey(Tubitak Scientific & Technological Research Council Turkey, 2009) Japoshvili, George; Kaydan, Mehmet Bora; Karaca, IsmailDuring 2007-2008 survey conducted on the Turkey oak (Quercus cerris) in Isparta province Psilophrys parvulus (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea, Encyrtidae) and its host Kermes bacciformis (Hemiptera: Coccoidea, Kermesidae) represent new species records for Turkey. Previously, R parvulus was known only from Italy where it was first recorded. The emergence behavior of this parasitoid differs from that of most scale insect parasitoids emerging from the anal opening of its host rather than chewing a hole in the scale insect's test to emerge.Article Türkiye Faunası için Yeni Koşnil Türü Ceroplastes Japonicus Green (Hemiptera: Coccoidea: Coccidae)(2008) Kaydan, Mehmet Bora; Kondo, Takumasaİstanbul park alanlarında Hedera helix ve Laurus nobilis üzerinde Türkiye koşnil faunası için yeni bir tür Ceroplastes japonicus tespit edilmiş olup Türkiye’de tespit edilen tüm Ceroplastes türlerinin teşhis anahtarı sunulmuştur.
