Article The Effect of Web-Supported Accurate and Fast Reading Development Program on The Reading Skills of Primary School Students(Pegem Akad Yayincilik Egitim Danismanlik Hizmetleri Tic Ltd Sti, 2022) Ozok, Halil Ibrahim; Celik, Rumeysa NurThe main purpose of this research is to examine the effect of the Web-Supported Accurate and Speed Reading Development Program (ASRDP), developed by the researchers. For this purpose, "Experimental Model with Pretest-Posttest Control Group"? was used in the research. The study group of the research consists of 2nd grade students (n=40) studying at Ataturk Primary School in the Caldiran district of Van province in the first semester of the 2021-2022 academic year. Experimental (n=20) and control (n=20) groups were chosen within the scope of the research. ASRDP, developed with Web-supported content developed by the researchers, was applied to the experimental group along with the activities in the Turkish curriculum. The prepared program was implemented for 6 weeks, with 5 lesson hours per week. The program prepared within the scope of the research was supported by a website (rumeysahoca.com). The data of the study were collected through reading speed measurements, correct reading level measurements and "Reading Skills Scale". While collecting the data, two different types of texts were prepared as informative and narrative texts. The t-test was conducted to determine whether there was a difference between pre and post-tests. As a result of the research, a significant difference was found between the experimental and control groups in favor of the experimental group. In this respect, it is seen that the ASRDP has a positive effect on reading skills. The prepared site has been designed as a platform suitable for the use of students in this age group and open to development. In future studies, the effect of the on skills can be tested at different levels.Article Mediating and Moderating Effects of Cognitive Flexibility in the Relationship Between Social Media Addiction and Phubbing(Springer, 2024) Tanhan, Fuat; Ozok, Halil Ibrahim; Kaya, Alican; Yildirim, MuratPresently, social media is widely used worldwide among different populations. Therefore, phubbing rapidly became a popular phenomenon in our daily life. However, little is known about the underlying mechanism and interaction between social media use and phubbing. Therefore, this research examines the mediating and moderating role of cognitive flexibility in the association between social media addiction and phubbing. Participants were 385 university students (280 females) studying at a state university in eastern Turkey and completed the self-reported measures of cognitive flexibility, social media addiction, and phubbing. The results showed that cognitive flexibility mediated and moderated the effect of social media addiction on phubbing. These findings may contribute to the discussion around the psychological consequences of using social media alongside increasing awareness about factors affecting and explaining the association between social media use and phubbing, which have important implications for research and practice.Article A Person-Centered Approach To Emotional Security: Latent Profile Analysis of the Dark Triad and Psychological Symptoms(Sage Publications inc, 2023) Kaya, Alican; Mukba, Gamze; Ozok, Halil IbrahimFew studies have examined emotional security utilizing a person-centered approach. Therefore, in the present study, we conceptualized a multidimensional construct that includes psychological symptoms (i.e., depression, anxiety, and stress) and the dark triad traits (i.e., Machiavellianism, narcissism, and psychopathy). Applying latent profile analysis (LPA) allows the exploration of the interaction of emotional security with the dark triad traits and psychological symptoms in the sample at the level of sub-classes. Depression, stress, anxiety, Machiavellianism, narcissism, and psychopathy were determined as profile indicators. Moreover, satisfaction with life and the psychological well-being of the sub-classes were predicted. Data were gathered from 558 participants (418 females, %74.9) with an average age of 22.44 years). LPA indicated four distinct profiles: 'High emotional security and low psychological symptoms, and dark triad traits' (22%), 'Low emotional security and high psychological symptoms, dark triad traits' (5%), 'Low emotional security and moderate dark triad traits' (28%), 'Moderate emotional security, psychological symptoms, and dark triad traits' (45%). Mixture modeling approach-based research provides a complementary view of the previous psychopathology literature. The findings could help practitioners target at-risk university students with low emotional security, low psychological well-being, and low life satisfaction and design programs to aid them in alleviating the psychological symptoms and the dark triad traits.Article The Views of Academic Staff on the Transition To Emergency Distance Education in the Pandemic Process(Ani Publishing, 2022) Ozok, Halil Ibrahim; Kancinar, FatihEducation and training are constantly renewed in line with the changing world and emerging new learning needs. During the pandemic process in the world, the transition to distance education became essential at all grades of education. Many academicians started to use this system for the first time. The main subjects of this study are the effect of increasing technology usage times in the transition to compulsory distance education transition and the problems that may be encountered in distance education. From this point of view, the study aims to reveal the views of academic staff on compulsory distance education. This study used a case study, and the opinions of 20 lecturers working at Erzurum Ataturk University were collected with a semi-structured interview form. The obtained data were analyzed by creating themes and sub-themes through content analysis. In the light of the negotiations, difficulties in the planning and implementation of education, the difficulties in technological infrastructure problems, the advantages of distance education, and the situations created by technology in the distance education process were revealed. In light of the findings, it can be advised that all academics receive training on university distant education techniques.
