Article Arabis Watsonii (Phdavis) Fkmey.:an Overlooked Cruciferous Species From Eastern Anatolia and Its Phylogenetic Position(Pensoft Publishers, 2016) Ozudogru, Baris; Firat, MehmetArabis watsonii (P.H.Davis) F.K.Mey. was initially reported as Thlaspi watsonii P.H. Davis in Flora of Turkey. Although F. K. Meyer transferred this species to Arabis L., this species has been overlooked and treated as Thlaspi L. in relevant literature for Flora of Turkey. In this study this species was evaluated using molecular (nuclear ITS and plastidic trnL-F sequences) and morphological data. Results clearly show that A. watsonii is sister to the A. hirsuta aggregate and its relatives. In conclusion, our results increased the number of known Arabis species in Turkey to 23. Furthermore, detailed description and distribution of the species are given and a new IUCN threat category for A. watsonii is proposed.Article A New Bellflower, Campanula Dersimensis (Campanulaceae), From E Anatolia, Turkey(Botanischer Garten & Botanische Museum Berlin-dahlem, 2022) Firat, Mehmet; Ozudogru, Baris; Yildirim, HasanCampanula dersimensis Firat & Yildirim, a new species endemic to the E Anatolian region of Turkey, is described and illustrated. It is currently known from two localities in Tunceli province (Dersim). Campanula dersimensis shows similarities to C. quercetorum Hub.-Mor. & C. Simon and C. yildirimlii Kit Tan & Sorger. A close relationship of the three taxa is also supported by phylogenetic analyses based on the nuclear-encoded ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region. Diagnostic morphological characters are discussed and compared with those of closely related taxa. Campanula dersimensis is easily distinguished from related species, especially by its retrorsely hairy stem and leaf surface, to 1 mm long calyx appendages and glabrous and light greenish yellow to yellowish white corollas.Article Phylogenetic Position and Taxonomic Assignment of Thlaspi Aghricum Phdavis & K.tan (Brassicaceae)(Magnolia Press, 2014) Firat, Mehmet; Ozudogru, Baris; Tarikahya-Hacioglu, Burcu; Bulbul, Ali Savas; Al-Shehbaz, Ihsan A.; Mummenhoff, KlausA general review of the taxonomic status of Thlaspi past and present is given, and a critical evaluations of its segregates based on both morphological and molecular data are presented. ITS molecular phylogenetic study of Thlaspi aghricum and related species, as well as seed-coat morphology and anatomy strongly support the placement of the species in Noccaea. The new combination N. aghrica is proposed, and detailed description and distribution of the species are given.
