Article Contribution of Sonoelastography in the Differentiation of Benign and Malignant Breast Masses: a Comparative Analysis on Sonographic Birads Classification(Yuzuncu Yil Universitesi Tip Fakultesi, 2017) Arslan, H.; Akdemir, Z.; Yavuz, A.; İslamoglu, N.; Çelik, S.; Özgökçe, M.; Tolunay, H.E.In this study, we aimed to investigate the effectivity of ultrasonographic elastography in the differentiation of benign and malignant lesions detected on B-mode ultrasonography. The retrospective study included 133 consecutive patients who underwent B-mode USG followed by elastography between January 2013 and December 2015. The lesions were scored by using B-mode USG with breast imaging-report and data systems (BIRADS) and then sonoelastographic color-coded maps were obtained by elastography in a single session. Sonoelastographic scoring was achieved with a 5-point scoring system. Elasticity scores and strain ratio (SR) values were compared with histopathological findings. The 133 patients included 132 (99.2%) women and 1 (0.8%) man. Mean age was 40.45±14.8 years. The lesions were mostly localized in the left breast (n=70, 52.3% vs. n=63, 47.7%). Depending on the pathological findings, 94 (71.2%) lesions were classified as benign and 39 (28.8%) as malignant. Mean SR value was 4.419±1.43, with 5.5 in malignant lesions and 4.3 in benign lesions. At the cut-off value of 4.95 for SR, the sensitivity and specificity of USG in elastographic examination were 81.6% and 78.7%, respectively. A significant correlation was found between the SR value and the BIRADS score calculated on USG (rho=0.86; two-tailed; p<0.001). Similarly, a significant correlation was found between the SR value and the elasticity score (rho=0.88; two-tailed; p<0.001). In conclusion, the use of sonoelastographic examination following the USG examination with B-mode ultrasonography can be a complementary diagnostic method that increases the specificity of USG. Moreover, it can also reduce unnecessary biopsies in lesions with suspicious malignancy. © 2018, Yuzuncu Yil Universitesi Tip Fakultesi. Totally 137 postmenopausal women were evaluated in the study. 61 of them were under the treatment of HRT due to the menopausal symptoms. 76 women did not receive treatment. Intraocular pressure (IOP) was measured with Goldmann tonometer both groups. In the HRT treatment group (study group), mean values of IOP for 2 eyes in the first visits was 15.4±1.7 mmHg and 13.9 ± 1.4 mmHg after 6 months use of HRT, respectively (p<0.05). In the non-HRT group (control group) mean values of IOP for 2 eyes in the first visits was 14.4 ± 1.4 mmHg and 14.3 ± 1.4 mmHg after six months, respectively (p˃0.05). HRT use and regular measurement of IOP regularly seems to prevents to reduce the risk of glaucoma in these patients, unless there are strong evidence that glaucoma does not occur in women on HRT. © 2017, Yuzuncu Yil Universitesi Tip Fakultesi. Although etiology is not fully understood, it is thought that genetic, immunological and environmental factors can play a role. Nowadays, translational and deletion in the critical regions (Xq13-26) on the X chromosome are defined in the developmental light in the genetic area. New approaches have been developed in clinical follow-up and treatment in recent years. It has been reported that caution should be taken in the follow-up, especially in terms of osteoporosis. In this article, recent literature on premature ovarian failure attempted to reveal current genetic etiology of premature ovarian failure. © 2018, Yuzuncu Yil Universitesi Tip Fakultesi. Maternal oxidative status features are identifiable on placental pathology, and antepartum diagnostic methods are rapidly evolving. The current study was constructed to determine the maternal oxidative status by measuring serum ischemia modified album in (IMA) levels in pregnancies complicated with idiopathic intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR). The current study was designed as a descriptive and cohort trial. A total of 87 pregnant women; 45 healthy controls and 42 pregnancies complicated with idiopathic IUGR were included to the study population. Maternal serum IMA concentration was measured prior to the administration of any medication. The perinatal outcomes of patie nts were also recorded. Maternal serum IMA concentration in pregnancies complicated by idiopathic IUGR was higher than in healthy controls. There was no significant difference between the groups (0.54±0.04 versus 0.55±0.06 ABSU, p: 0.314). IUGR is a significant pregnancy complication. Elevated oxidative stress which leads to an ischemic microenvironment is associated with IUGR. Maternal serum IMA which is a possible marker for oxidative stress is not increase in pregnancies complicated with idiopathic IUGR. © 2024, Yuzuncu Yil Universitesi Tip Fakultesi. OHSS can be a reason of acute abdomen. USG is very important in the diagnosis of OHSS. Severe complications can be seen in OHSS. Incidence of OHSS is increasing in recent years, so this situation should be kept in mind and the early diagnosis of OHSS is very important. © 2018, Yuzuncu Yil Universitesi Tip Fakultesi.
