Science Fiction, a Literary Genre That Sheds Light on the Future of Humanity

Abstract

İnsanlar tarih boyunca duygu ve düşüncelerini aktarmak için farklı yollara başvurmuştur. Sözlü ve yazılı edebiyat ile başlayan bu iletişim kanallarından en modern ve gelişmiş olanlarından biri, bugün oldukça popüler olan bilim kurgu romanıdır. Bu yazın türünde insanlığın en karanlık kabusları, umut vaad eden rüyaları ve gelişmiş toplum tasavvurları gözlemlenebilir. Bilim kurgunun sınırı insanlığın hayal gücünün sınırıyla paraleldir. One of the most modern and advanced communication channels, which began with oral and written literature, is the science fiction novel which is popular today. In this type of literature, the darkest nightmares of humankind, promising dreams, and imaginations of developed society can be observed. The limit of science fiction is parallel to the limitation of human imagination. These works, on the one hand, are supported by the remarkable power of science, and on the other hand, they benefit from the exciting elements of the mythology and heroic epics that have been going on for thousands of years. Based on the incomparable power of the imagination and the precise and clear principles of science, this genre of literature has played both an enlightening and a guiding role. This literary genre contains highly fictional elements and is more connected with the natural world than expected. Science fiction, which foresees many vital events in human history, from world wars to atomic bombs, phones to television, and artificial intelligence, has played an essential role in the development of technology. Possible consequences of mistakes made by humans or how the world can be a more developed place have been dealt with in a gripping and remarkable way by science fiction. This study explores the correlation of science fiction literature with the real world and how they influence each other with a holistic approach and presents its results with examples.
