The Educational Examination of Van Folk Dance

Abstract

Bu araştırma, Van yöresine ait halk oyunlarının geleneksel icrası ve öğretim tekniklerini inceleyen nitel çalışma yöntemlerinden betimsel bir çalışmadır. Çalışmada, Van'da halen oynanan halk oyunlarının yanı sıra zamanla unutulmaya yüz tutmuş oyunlar da araştırılmıştır. Veri toplama sürecinde yazılı kaynak taramalarının yanı sıra bölge halkı ve alanında uzman kişilerle birebir görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın ilk bölümünde, Van halk oyunlarının tarihsel gelişimi ve bölgenin coğrafi yapısının oyun kültürü üzerindeki etkileri ele alınmıştır. Ardından, Van'da icra edilen halk oyunlarının adları, oynanış şekilleri, bu oyunlarda kullanılan kostümler ve aksesuarların özellikleri detaylı şekilde incelenmiştir. Oyunların müzik yapısı, ritmik özellikleri ve icra sürecinde kullanılan enstrümanlar da araştırmanın önemli bir parçasını oluşturmuştur. Çalışmanın temel hedeflerinden biri, halk oyunlarının nesilden nesile nasıl aktarıldığını ve bu süreçte hangi öğretim yöntemlerinin kullanıldığını ortaya koymaktır. Bu kapsamda, geleneksel yöntemlerle akademik öğretim teknikleri karşılaştırılmış, her iki yöntemin oyunların öğrenilmesi ve öğretilmesindeki etkileri analiz edilmiştir. Geleneksel aktarım sürecinde ustadan çırağa öğrenme, düğün ve sosyal etkinliklerde gözlemleyerek katılım gibi yöntemlerin ön planda olduğu belirlenmiştir. Akademik öğretimde ise halk oyunlarının sistematik bir yaklaşımla öğretilmesi, teknik analizler ve müzikal destek gibi yöntemlerin sürece katkıları değerlendirilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, bu çalışma Van halk oyunlarının kültürel ve eğitsel boyutunu detaylı bir şekilde ele alarak, öğretim süreçlerinde kullanılan farklı teknikleri ortaya koymaktadır. Böylece, geleneksel ve akademik yöntemlerin birbirini nasıl tamamladığı ve halk oyunlarının gelecek nesillere aktarımında nasıl daha etkili hale getirilebileceği konusunda önemli bulgular sunmaktadır.This research is a descriptive qualitative study that examines the traditional performance and teaching techniques of folk dances from the Van region. The study investigates not only the folk dances currently performed in Van but also those that have begun to be forgotten over time. During the data collection process, literature reviews were conducted alongside face-to-face interviews with local residents and experts in the field. In the first section of the research, the historical development of Van's folk dances and the effects of the region's geographical structure on dance culture are addressed. Subsequently, the names of the folk dances performed in Van, their playing styles, and the characteristics of costumes and accessories used in these dances are examined in detail. The musical structure of the dances, their rhythmic properties, and the instruments used during the performances also constitute significant parts of the research. One of the main objectives of the study is to reveal how folk dances are transmitted from generation to generation and which teaching methods are utilized in this process. In this context, traditional methods have been compared with academic teaching techniques, analyzing the effects of both methods on the learning and teaching of these dances. It was determined that in the traditional transmission process, learning from a master to an apprentice and participating through observation during weddings and social events are prominent methods. In academic teaching, however, systematic approaches to teaching folk dances, technical analyses, and musical support have been evaluated for their contributions to the process. In conclusion, this study thoroughly addresses the cultural and educational dimensions of Van's folk dances, highlighting the different techniques used in teaching processes. Thus, it presents important findings on how traditional and academic methods complement each other and how they can be made more effective in passing down folk dances to future generations.
