Article Alexander Type Primary Anetoderma: Case Report(2012) Güneş Bilgili, S.; Karadaǧ, A.S.; Çalka, Ö.; Bulut, G.; Özdemir, S.Anetoderma is a rare disease which is characterized by localized, atrophic, herniated macules caused by loss of elastic tissue in the skin. Anetoderma usually involves back, chest, neck upper parts of arms. Alexander-type anetoderma is a severe variant of primary anetoderma. Bullous lesions appears during its course and heals with postinflammatory lesions. A 20-year-old female patient admitted to our outpatient clinic with brown atrophic plaques located on the dorsum of both feet, lateral aspects of her right legs, extansor surfaces of both knees and elbows and on her buttocks for 6 years following preceding vesicles and bullae. The patient was diagnosed with Alexander-type anetoderma based on clinical and histopathologic findings. Our case has been reported because of the rarity of this type of anetoderma and atypical localization of its lesions. It affects mainly middle-aged women. Lesions are annular plaques with raised borders and atrophic centers on the sun exposed skin. Diagnosis is based on histopathological findings of a granulomatous reaction with elastolysis and phagocytosis of elastic fibers by multinucleated giant cells and the absence of elastic fibers in the center of the granuloma. Thirty four year- old male patient presented to our department with a three-month complaint of erythematous annular papules and plaques, with an atrophic center and elevated borders erythematous on the forehead that gradually increased in number and size without associated symptoms. A diagnosis of annular elastolytic giant cell granuloma is made based on the clinical and histopathological findings. We reported this case due to its rarity and to emphasize that the possibility of annular elastolytic giant cell granuloma should be kept in mind as an entity for differential diagnosis during the clinical evalutions granulomatous skin disease on facial located. Many studies has showed that multipl nevi lead to an increased risk of melanoma. It is a good option to take photos of patients in periodic intervals. In our study, we calculated the risk of melanoma in patients with acquired melanocytic nevi with 3-point checklist and digital dermoscopy and we aimed to compare the results and their advantages to each other. We enrolled 300 patients with acquired melanocytic nevi in our study. Cases we enrolled in our study were recorded in the pre-prepared patient follow-up form. In this study Fotofinder HD (Germany) digital dermoscopy instruments were used. Lesions that were regarded as malign by 3-point scoring method were excised and histopathologically evaluated. In statistical calculations significance level of 5% was used and calculations were made with SPSS (ver: 13) statistical package program. 157 of our patients were male (52.3%) and 143 (47.7%) were female. Sensitivity of digital dermoscopy was determined as 86% according to the 3-point checklist. 6 Of the 300 patients were diagnosed as malign melanoma. Sensitivity of the 3-point checklist was determined as 97%. In our study, the results of 3-point checklist were detected higher than previous studies. Since digital dermoscopy is easy to use, this method is convenient especially for inexperienced physicians in the diagnosis of malignancy. But dermoscopic algorithms remain as the first choice for specialist physicians. © 2017, Yuzuncu Yil Universitesi Tip Fakultesi. Material and Methods: In the period of February-May 2000, 925 soldiers who were admitted consecutively to the dermatology outpatient clinic of Gime Military Hospital of Northern Cyprus Turkish Peace Forces were assessed for superficial fungal infections by a complete dermatological examination. The diagnosis of superficial fungal infections was made by the use of potassium hydroxide preparations in addition to clinical appearance (when needed) and the findings were recorded to a form. Results: Among 925 soldiers included the study, the frequency of superficial fungal infections was found to be 20% (185 soldiers). Out of 185 cases, 151 had dermatophytosis (81.6%), 32 had tinea versicolor (17.3%) and 2 had candidiasis (1.1%). Conclusion: The high frequency of superficial fungal infections in facilities such as military service in which humans live in crowded populations will be decreased by preventive measures and educational studies. Moreover, both loss of working power and medical expenses will be kept in the least possible level.Article Reticular Erythematous Mucinosis: Case Report(2012) Güneş Bilgili, S.; Karadaǧ, A.S.; Çalka, Ö.; Önder, S.; Kösem, M.The cutaneous mucinoses are a heterogeneous group of diseases in which mucin accumulates in the skin or within the hair follicle. Its etiology is unknown. Due to its rarity we report these two cases of benign cephalic histiocytosis. The first case was a 1.5 year-old boy with small, asymptomatic, yellow-brown papules distributed over his trunk and upper extremities and yellow-brown plaques localised bilaterally to his cheeks. The second case was a 16 months old boy with purple-erythematous papules and nodules on his left cheek, left earlobe and right preauricular region ranging from 2 mm to 5 mm in diameter. There were no symptoms or signs of systemic involvement in both of the cases. It is uncommon and can therefore be easily mistaken for other more common skin diseases seen in children.
