Fifty seven vases of alimentary tract malignancy were included (22 stomach and 35 esophagus). Serum 2n and Cu levels were measured preoperatively and on the third, fifth and seventh postoperative days. Postoperative serum Zn levels were low in patients with anastomotic leakage, and there were significant differences in Zn levels between those with and without anastomotic leakage. However, there was no significant change in Cu levels. In the light of these findings, we conclude that Zn plays an effective role in anastomotic healing.Article Evaluation of the Usability of the Rainfall Anomaly Index (Rai) Instead of the Standard Precipitation Index (Spi)(Springer Science and Business Media Deutschland GmbH, 2025) Aydin, M.In this study, it is aimed to examine the usability of the Rainfall Anomaly Index (RAI) method instead of the Standard Precipitation Index (SPI) method. In order to make the RAI method usable instead of the SPI method, a modification technique different from the literature in the study. The results obtained with the RAI method (mRAI) modified by the proposed method were compared with the results obtained with the SPI method and other studies in literature. Pearson Correlation Coefficient (PCC), Cohen’s Kappa Statistic and Bland and Altman Plot methods were used to evaluate the agreement of the results. According to the Kappa Statistic and Bland and Altman Plot methods, it was determined that the results obtained with the mRAI method gave the best results in all time periods. For long-term drought values (12, 24 and 48 months), mRAI results and SPI results were found to be in good agreement and regional coefficients that can be used in the calculation of long-term drought values with the mRAI method were proposed for the selected region. As a result, it was evaluated that the mRAI method can be used instead of the SPI method in the calculation of long-term drought values. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Shiraz University 2024.Article An Explicit Solution of Linear Conformable Systems With Variable Coefficients(Yildiz Technical University, 2024) Aydin, M.This paper is mainly devoted to exact solutions to the initial value problem for linear conformable systems with variable coefficients. The famous method known as the generalized Pea-no-Baker series, which inholds the conformable integral, is exploited to acquire the state-transition matrix. A representation of an exact solution in a closed interval for linear confromable systems with variable coefficients is determined with the help of this matrix. It is verified by showing that the determined exact solution satisfies the systems step by step. Moreover, another exact solution in the same closed interval is identified thanks to the method of variation of parameters. The existence and uniqueness of the second exact solution to the systems are provided by the Banach contraction mapping principle. This provides that the representations of the two solutions coincide although they are obtained by completely different approaches and they have completely different structures. A couple of examples are presented to exmplify the use of the findings. S.; Cakir, E.; Aydin, M.; Ozturk, L.Background. Several skin diseases are believed to be associated with oxidative stress. Defence against reactive oxygen species in the skin involves a variety of antioxidant enzymes, including glutathione-S-transferases (GSTs) catalysing the reaction between reduced glutathione, and a variety of exogenously and endogenously derived electrophilic compounds. The mammalian soluble GSTs are divided into five main classes: alpha (A), mu (M), pi (P), theta (T) and zeta (Z). Aim. To investigate the expression of GSTM4 and GSTT1 in lesional and nonlesional skin of patients with dermatophytoses and Tinea versicolor infection. Methods. Expression of GSTM4 and GSTT1 was assessed by immunohistochemistry for dermatophytoses in 15 patients with T. versicolor, 15 patients with Tinea pedis and 8 patients with Tinea inguinalis, and compared with healthy controls (n = 9). After written consent was signed by each participant, punch biopsies were excised from the centre of the lesional skin sites in patients and from the normal skin sites in controls. The relationships between expression of GSTM4 and GSTT1 isoenzymes and fungal infections were also examined. Results. When the normal and infected tissue of these cases were compared according to their staining intensity, GSTM4 expression was found to be stronger in control epithelium than in the epithelium of patients with T. pedis, T. inguinalis or T. versicolor (P < 0.05). By contrast, expression of GSTT1 was stronger in the epithelium of patients infected with any of the three dermatophytes than in control epithelium (P < 0.05). Conclusions. There is a significant relationship between presence of T. versicolor, T. inguinalis and T. pedis and expression of GSTM4 and GSTT1.Article The Linear Sequential Fractional Differential System Involving Two Generalized Fractional Orders and Its Application To the Vibration Theory(Islamic Azad Univ, Shiraz Branch, 2024) Aydin, M.The main aim of the current paper is to keep developing the theory of conformable fractional calculus and observe its contributions to real-world problems. In this regard, the conformable bivariate Mittag-Leffler function is first proposed. The images of the conformable bivariate Mittag-Leffler functions under the conformable derivatives and the conformable Laplace transforms are calculated. A representation of an explicit solution to the linear sequential fractional differential system involving two generalized fractional orders in the conformable sense is determined based on the conformable bivariate function with the help of the conformable Laplace transform method. Then, it is shown that the obtained solution satisfies the introduced system. The vibration of springs is presented as an application with many simulations and tables for the described system. The effectiveness of the results is shown by discovering a relation between the system's order and its equilibrium position.Article Machine Learning Analysis of the Impact of Silver Nitrate and Silver Nanoparticles on Wheat (Triticum Aestivum L.): Callus Induction, Plant Regeneration, and Dna Methylation(Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI), 2023) Türkoğlu, A.; Haliloğlu, K.; Demirel, F.; Aydin, M.; Çiçek, S.; Yiğider, E.; Niedbała, G.The objective of this study was to comprehend the efficiency of wheat regeneration, callus induction, and DNA methylation through the application of mathematical frameworks and artificial intelligence (AI)-based models. This research aimed to explore the impact of treatments with AgNO3 and Ag-NPs on various parameters. The study specifically concentrated on analyzing RAPD profiles and modeling regeneration parameters. The treatments and molecular findings served as input variables in the modeling process. It included the use of AgNO3 and Ag-NPs at different concentrations (0, 2, 4, 6, and 8 mg L−1). The in vitro and epigenetic characteristics were analyzed using several machine learning (ML) methods, including support vector machine (SVM), random forest (RF), extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost), k-nearest neighbor classifier (KNN), and Gaussian processes classifier (GP) methods. This study’s results revealed that the highest values for callus induction (CI%) and embryogenic callus induction (EC%) occurred at a concentration of 2 mg L−1 of Ag-NPs. Additionally, the regeneration efficiency (RE) parameter reached its peak at a concentration of 8 mg L−1 of AgNO3. Taking an epigenetic approach, AgNO3 at a concentration of 2 mg L−1 demonstrated the highest levels of genomic template stability (GTS), at 79.3%. There was a positive correlation seen between increased levels of AgNO3 and DNA hypermethylation. Conversely, elevated levels of Ag-NPs were associated with DNA hypomethylation. The models were used to estimate the relationships between the input elements, including treatments, concentration, GTS rates, and Msp I and Hpa II polymorphism, and the in vitro output parameters. The findings suggested that the XGBoost model exhibited superior performance scores for callus induction (CI), as evidenced by an R2 score of 51.5%, which explained the variances. Additionally, the RF model explained 71.9% of the total variance and showed superior efficacy in terms of EC%. Furthermore, the GP model, which provided the most robust statistics for RE, yielded an R2 value of 52.5%, signifying its ability to account for a substantial portion of the total variance present in the data. This study exemplifies the application of various machine learning models in the cultivation of mature wheat embryos under the influence of treatments and concentrations involving AgNO3 and Ag-NPs. © 2023 by the authors.Article Mediastinal and Retro-Orbital Emphysema Following an Uncomplicated Endoscopic Sphincterotomy(2005) Aydin, M.; Kisli, E.; Ozgoren, E.; Soylemez, O.; Baser, M.; Aslaner, A.We report a case of mediastinal and bilateral retro-orbital emphysema following an uncomplicated endoscopic sphincterotomy. The concurrent presence of these complications following endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography is rare. The simultaneous occurrence of these two complications in the same patient has not been previously reported in the literature. Furthermore, we define the first case of mediastinal and bilateral retro-orbital emphysema following endoscopic sphincterotomy.Article Multiple Bowel Perforations in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus(2005) Aydin, M.; Baser, M.; Kösem, M.; Aslaner, A.Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a connective tissue disorder that has rarely been seen with acute surgical manifestations. Intestinal perforation is one of the most devastating complications of SLE which necessitates prompt surgical intervention. We report a case having multiple intestinal perforations on exploration and has undergone primary repair. SLE should be taken into account as a diagnosis of choice in patients with bowel perforation.Article Qualitative Analysis of the Prabhakar-Caputo Type Fractional Delayed Equations(Inst Applied Mathematics, 2025) Aydin, M.; Mahmudov, N. I.The representation of an explicit solution to the Prabhakar fractional differential delayed system is studied employing the far-famed Laplace transform technique. Second, the existence uniqueness of the solution is debated together with the Ulam-Hyers stability of a semilinear Prabhakar fractional differential delayed system. Thirdly, the necessary and sufficient circumstances for the controllability of linear Prabhakar fractional differential delayed system are determined by describing the Gramian matrix. A sufficient circumstance for the relative controllability of a semilinear Prabhakar fractional differential delayed system is studied via the Krasnoselskii's fixed point theorem. Numerical examples are offered to verify the theoretical findings.Article The Role of Octreotide Versus Placebo in the Prevention of Post-Ercp Pancreatitis(H G E Update Medical Publishing S A, 2007) Kisli, E.; Baser, M.; Aydin, M.; Guler, O.Background/Aims: To evaluate the effectiveness of a single administration of intravenous octreotide infusion in preventing post-ERCP pancreatitis and progressing hyperamylasemia. Methodology: One hundred and twenty (71 female, 59 male) patients who had been diagnosed with pancreaticobiliary pathology were included in this study. 100 microgram (0.1mg) octreotide diluted in 60mL normal saline solution administered intravenously 60 minutes prior to the procedure and continued during the procedure and after the procedure. Placebo was given in 87 patients. Patients were assessed clinically and serum amylase level was also measured before the procedure and 3, 12, and 24 hours after the procedure. We define clinical pancreatitis as serum amylase level greater than 4-5 times in conjunction with clinical assessment. Results: Hyperamylasemia was assessed in 14 of 33 (42.4%) administered octreotide patients. Clinical findings of pancreatitis were observed in 5 of these 14 (11.5%) patients. Hyperamylasemia was also assessed in 41 of 87 (47.1%) administered placebo patients. Clinical findings of pancreatitis were observed in 10 of these 41 (11.5) patients. There were no significant differences between the groups, statistically (p > 0.05) (Pearson chi-square test). Conclusions: The results of this trial indicate that a single administration of intravenous octreotide infusion does not prevent ERCP-induced pancreatitis and effect serum amylase level.Article The Role of Peritoneal Aspiration Cytology Diagnosis of Acute Appendicitis(2003) Kisli, E.; Ozgören, E.; Arslantürk, H.; Aydin, M.; Güler, O.; Bayram, I.BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study is to search the role of peritoneal aspiration cytology in acute appendicitis. METHODS: Peritoneal aspiration cytology was (PAC) conducted for fifty suspected acute appendicitis patients before their operations. PAC findings was compared with histopathologic results. RESULTS: Negative appendicectomy rate according to clinical diagnosis was 20%. PAC was positive in 32 and negative in 18 patients. 93.75% PAC (+) patients had acute appendicitis, 44.4% PAC (-) patients had normal appendices. The false positive rate was 6.2% and the false negative rate was 55.6%. The sensitivity, the specificity, the positive predictive value, the negative predictive value of PAC for the diagnosis of acute appendicitis were 75%, 80%, 93.8%, 44.4%, respectively and the accuracy was 76%. CONCLUSION: PAC positive results support the diagnosis of acute appendicitis strongly. However, PAC (-) results don't exclude the diagnosis of acute appendicitis.Article The Sequential Conformable Langevin-Type Differential Equations and Their Applications To the Rlc Electric Circuit Problems(Hindawi Ltd, 2024) Aydin, M.; Mahmudov, N. I.In this paper, the sequential conformable Langevin-type differential equation is studied. A representation of a solution consisting of the newly defined conformable bivariate Mittag-Leffler function to its nonhomogeneous and linear version is obtained via the conformable Laplace transforms' technique. Also, existence and uniqueness of a global solution to its nonlinear version are obtained. The existence and uniqueness of solutions are shown with respect to the weighted norm defined in compliance with (conformable) exponential function. The concept of the Ulam-Hyers stability of solutions is debated based on the fixed-point approach. The LRC electrical circuits are presented as an application to the described system. Simulated and numerical instances are offered to instantiate our abstract findings.
