Article Antioxidant Properties of Lycianthes Rantonnetii and Contents of Vitamin and Element(Pamukkale University, 2022) Amin, A.A.; Ekin, S.; Bakir, A.; Yildiz, D.The aim of this study was to investigate the antioxidant, antiradical activity of the Lycianthes rantonnetii (Solanacaeae) plant, to determine levels of element (Fe, Zn, Mn, Cu, Cr, Mo, Cd, As, Pb, Co, V, Tl, Li, Ti, Sr, Be), mineral (Mg, P) and vitamin (A, E, C). In the study, metals and mineral analyses were carried out using dry ashing method with ICP-OES, vitamin A and vitamin E analyses were carried out using the HPLC method and vitamin C, total phenol, flavonoids, antioxidant capacity, DPPH, ABTS, hydrogen peroxide, hydroxyl radicals scavenging activity and anti-hemolytic activity of the methanol extract Lycianthes rantonnetii (L. rantonnetii) plant was determined spectrophotometrically. According to the results, Cu, Zn, Co, Mg, retinol, α-tocopherol, ascorbic acid, total antioxidant activity, phenolic and flavonoid contents of L. rantonnetii were 57.60 ± 4.83 μmol/kg, 0.14 ± 0.01 mmol/kg, 2.23 ± 0.10 μmol/kg, 39.13 ± 1.76 mmol/kg, 12.22 ± 3.37 μmol/kg, 104.55 ± 7.44 μmol/kg, 80.61 ± 9.31 mg/100 g, 11.45 ± 0.60 mM ascorbic acid/g, 5.33 ± 0.41 mg GA/g and 3.76 ± 0.29 mg QE/g, respectively. The results of this study showed that the content of antioxidant vitamins, minerals of the L. rantonnetii plant was at high levels and it contains a reasonable amount of total phenol, and flavonoids also, it was determined that the plant had a high scavenging activity for free radicals. It is believed that L. rantonnetii can be used as an additive for food products in the various food sectors with appropriate antioxidant activities. © IJSM 2022.Article Effect of Rhabdosciadium Anatolyi and Chlorogenic Acid on Serum Retinol, Cholecalciferol and Phylloquinone Levels in Experimental Cyclophosphamide Treated Rats(Pakistan Agricultural Scientists Forum, 2025) Bakir, A.; Ekin, S.; Firat, M.In this study, the effects of chlorogenic acid (CA), and ethanol extract of Rhabdosciadium anatolyi (R. anatolyi) flowers on the levels of vitamins (retinol, cholecalciferol and phylloquinone) in the serum of experimentally cyclophosphamide (CP)-induced rats were investigated. Wistar-albino female rats (N=48) of 8 weeks old (200-250 g) were divided into six groups of 8 animals each (control (0.9% NaCl), 200 mg/kg CP, 100 mg/kg CA, 300 mg/kg R.anatolyi flowers extract, 200 mg/kg CP + 300 mg/kg R.anatolyi flowers extract and 200 mg/kg CP + 100 mg/kg CA). At the end of the 7-day study, blood samples were collected from the rats' heart and serum was extracted. Retinol, cholecalciferol and phylloquinone levels in the groups were determined simultaneously using simple reversed phase HPLC method. According to the results of statistical analysis, a significant difference (p<0.01, p<0.05) was observed between the control group and the groups treated with 200 mg/kg CP and 200 mg/kg CP + 300 mg/kg R. anatolyi flower ethanol extract, respectively. In addition, a significant difference (p<0.01) in cholecalciferol levels between control and 200 mg/kg CP groups was detected. However, no statistically significant difference (p>0.05) was observed between the groups in phylloquinone levels. It is concluded that CP causes free radical damage by causing oxidative stress, and retinol, is more effective and more resistant in the antioxidant defense system compared to cholecalciferol and phylloquinone.Article Effects of Clitoria Ternatea on Renal Ischemia and Reperfusion Injury in Rats(Universidad del Zulia, Facultad de Ciencias Veterinarias, 2025) Melek, Ş.; Uyar, A.; Akkoyun, H.T.; Altun, S.; Akkoyun, M.B.; Karagözoğlu, F.; Bakir, A.Ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury refers to damage caused by the temporary interruption of blood flow into an organ/ tissue and the restoration of circulation. This injury, which affects many vital organs, is still an important clinical and surgical problem. This study aims to investigate the effect of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of Clitoria ternatea on renal I/R injury in rats. Twenty-four male Wistar albino rats were clustered into 4 groups, 6 rats in each (Control, I/R group, Clitoria ternatea group, I/R group + Clitoria ternatea group). At the end of the experimental procedures, all groups were euthanised in accordance with ethical rules. Blood and tissue samples were taken and subsequent biochemical (MDA, SOD, CAT, GSH-Px, BUN, Na, K, creatine), histopathological and immunohistochemical analyses demonstrated that Clitoria ternatea effectively prevented I/R-induced renal injury in rats. Based on these findings, Clitoria ternatea may be considered a potential therapeutic agent for the prevenstion of I/R-induced kidney damage. © (2025), (Universidad del Zulia, Facultad de Ciencias Veterinarias).
