Ultrastructure and Pollen Micromorphology of Three Endemic Bellevalia (Asparagaceae) Species in Turkey
(Parlar Scientific Publications (p S P), 2019) Baser, Birol; Firat, Mehmet; Binzet, Riza
The pollen morphology of Bellevalia kurdica Firat, B. siirtensis Firat, B. hakkariensis Firat species (Asparagaceae) was examined using Light Microscopy (LM) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The taxa are similar in some aspects, such as pollen size and reticulate exine sculpturing. Pollen grains are shed as monads. They are monosulcate, ellipsoidal, isopolar and bilateral symmetric. The exine is semitectate and the tectum is perforate. Sulcus extends from distal to proximal in some pollen of this genus. Besides, this study is the first report dealing with the palynological features of three endemic Bellevalia Lapeyr. species.

Onosma Satensis Sp. Nov. (Boraginaceae: Lithospermeae), a New Species From Hakkari (Eastern Anatolia, Turkey)
(Publications Scientifiques Du Museum, Paris, 2021) Firat, Mehmet; Binzet, Riza
A new species of Onosma L. (Boraginaceae: Lithospermeae), from the Hakkari province of eastern Turkey, is described and illustrated. The new species is endemic and distributed in a narrow area in the Sat Mountains. Taxonomically the closest relative of Onosma satensis sp. nov. is O. polioxantha Rech. f. which also occurs in Turkey. In addition, it is primarily distinguished from O. polioxantha by its navicular leaves, longer and reticulate cauline leaves, longer pedicels and calyx, longer and densely patent short setulose outside, reticulate corolla and bigger nutlets. The geographical distributions and map, detailed photographs, habitat description, vernacular name, an IUCN conservation status and identification key for O. satensis sp. nov. and O. polioxantha were also provided. Nutlets and pollen micrographs of O. satensis sp. nov. are presented using scanning electron microscopy.

Pollen Morphological Study on Some Rare Allium L. (Amaryllidaceae) Taxa in Turkey
(Bangladesh Assoc Plant Taxonomists, 2019) Baser, Birol; Firat, Mehmet; Binzet, Riza
The pollen morphology of 10 Allium L. taxa, 6 of which are endemic to Turkey, were investigated in detail by light and scanning electron microscopy. According to LM and SEM, the pollen grains of genera were monad, monosulcate percolate, heteropolar with bilateral symmetry, 25.30 to 53,85 mu m long axis (LA) and 17.55 to 36.86 mu m short axis (SA), the form was prolate (mean of LA/SA ratio 1.30 to 1.70 and in polar view boat-shaped. Three types of ornamentation were determined. Striate-rugulate-perforate type in Allium longisepalum, A. oreophilum, A. anacoleum, A. microspathum, A. shirnakiense, A. purpureoviride and A. armenum, Rugulate-perforate type in A. pervariense and A. gabardagense and Rugulate-reticulate-perforate type in A. arlgirdense. Sulcus membrane ornamentations were rugulate or psilate. The sulcus extends from the distal to proximal ends in A. anacoleum, A. arlgirdense and A. pervariense. The present study on some Turkish species of Allium showed that several morphological pollen characters may possess taxonomical value.
