Rubrics in Terms of Development Processes and Misconceptions*

The present study aimed to examine the development process of rubrics in theses indexed in the national thesis database and to identify any misconceptions presented in these rubrics. A qualitative research approach utilizing document analysis was employed. The sample of theses was selected based on a literature review and criteria established by expert opinions, resulting in a total of 395 theses being included in the study using criterion sampling. Data were collected through a "thesis review form" developed by the researchers. Descriptive analysis was employed for data analysis. Findings indicated that approximately 27% of the 395 theses contained misconceptions, with a disproportionate percentage of these misconceptions (The rating scale was called rubric and the checklist was called rubric) being found in master's theses. Regarding the field of the thesis, the highest rate of misconceptions was observed in health, social sciences, special education, and fine arts, while the lowest rate was found in education and linguistics. Additionally, theses with misconceptions tended to possess a lower degree of validity and reliability evidence compared to those without misconceptions. This difference was found to be statistically significant for both validity evidence and reliability evidence. In theses without misconceptions, the most frequently presented validity evidence was expert opinion, while the reliability evidence was found to be the percentage of agreement. The findings were discussed in relation to the existing literature, and recommendations were proposed.
Secondary Students Attitudes Towards Mathematics Examination Chaid Analysis

Bu araştırmanın temel amacı, ortaokul öğrencilerinin matematiğe yönelik tutumlarını belirlemek ve tutum üzerinde etkili olan değişkenleri Chaid Analizi yöntemi ile incelemektir. Araştırma, 2012-2013 öğretim yılında Muş İli Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğü?ne bağlı ortaokullarda yapılmıştır. Araştırmaya Muş ili ve ilçe merkezlerinde bulunan toplam 14 farklı okulda öğrenim gören 415 kız, 425 erkek olmak üzere toplam 840 ortaokul öğrencisi katılmıştır. Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin matematiğe karşı tutumlarını belirlemek için Alkan, Güzel ve Elçi (2004) tarafından geliştirilen Matematik Tutum Ölçeği ve bazı bireysel bilgilerine ilişkin bilgilere ulaşmak için Kişisel Bilgi Formu uygulanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde SPSS paket programı kullanılmıştır. Analizler sonucunda, öğrencilerin genel olarak matematiğe karşı orta düzeyde bir tutuma sahip olduğu belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca öğrencilerin matematik tutumları üzerinde en önemli etkiye sahip olan değişkenler, öğrencilerin matematiği sevme durumları, haftalık matematik çalışma süreleri, zihinden işlem yapma durumları, meslek hayalleri ve ders çalışırken aile bireylerinden yardım alma durumları olarak elde edilmiştir. Bu sonuçlara göre, başta öğretmenler olmak üzere, aile ve okul yönetimi, öğrencilere matematiği sevdirmenin yollarını aramalıdır. Dersleri daha çekici hale getirmek için gerekirse öğretim programı ve öğretmenlerin kullandıkları yöntem ve teknikler gözden geçirilmelidir. Matematik derslerinde, öğrencilerin zihinden işlem yapma becerilerini geliştirecek etkinliklere yer verilmelidir. Ayrıca, neden sonuç ilişkisini oldukça detaylandıran Chaid Analizi gibi ileri düzey istatistiksel yöntemler eğitim bilimleri alanında yapılan başka araştırmalarda da kullanılması yararlı görülmektedir.
