Article Bilcan Gokce: Religious Officials in Urartian Kingdom(Turk Tarih Kurumu, 2017) Gokce, Bilcansee Urartian State as a powerful state in Near East during I. millenium B.C. Hence it is known that the Urartians had significant improvements also in religious field as well as their political and martial in the geography in which the Urartians dominated. By archaeological data, it is understood that there were Me her Kapi rock niche, temples and open-air shrines and religious rituals performed in this areas. From this aspect, we consider that also religious officials had a significant role in these rituals. We encounter names of some religious officials who had a significant role in religious rituals in Urartian written sources. Beside the written sources, depicted arts of that period also provide significant data about the religious officials to us. In this study, some questions such as gender and status differences about religious officials in the Urartians have been clarified. In addition, works made by religious officials during rituals and also division of labor between each other have been analyzed. Thus, world of the religious officials who had a significant role in Urartian religious life has been tried to be unveiled.Article A Socio-Cultural View on Urartian Clothing(Ege Univ, 2016) Gokce, BilcanIn this article, clothing in the Urartian State which was founded mainly in the basin of Lake Van between 9th-7th centuries B.C. has been evaluated in socio-cultural aspect. This evaluation has been carried out in the light of depicted works, statuettes, archaeological findings and written sources found so far. It is possible to get information about clothes, headgear, shoes and clothing accessories of that period by these data including clothing. In the study, it has been tried to be clarified issues such as gender discrimination in clothing, functions of clothing, factors affecting clothing, production of these and producers in the Urartian society. Additionally, it has been understood that main factors affecting clothing were geographical conditions, social class difference and gender in Urartu. Thus, it has been tried to be unveiled the world of clothing which we thought that it had a significant role in the life of the Urartians.
