Article The Effect of Web 2.0 Tools on Primary School Students' Writing Motivation and Their Role in Developing Creative Writing Skills(Springer, 2025) Kiziltas, Yusuf; Kultas, EmrahWeb 2.0 tools for teaching purposes in schools are quite common. With Web 2.0 tools, students have the opportunity to both have fun and learn. Thus, students' willingness and motivation towards writing increases. Students whose writing motivation increases can write creatively in the process. The main purpose of this research is to reveal the effects of Web 2.0 tools on primary school students' writing motivation and their role in developing their creative writing skills. For these purposes, a quasi-experimental design model with a pretest-posttest control group was applied in the current study. Storyboard That and Storyjumper Web 2.0 tools were used in the research. During the research, creative writing activities were carried out in digital environments in the experimental group. In contrast, creative writing activities were carried out with paper and pencil in the control group. The research revealed that Web 2.0 tools improved creative writing skills. In addition, there was a significant difference in students' post-test scores and writing motivation compared to the pre-test. It was concluded that Web 2.0 tools were effective in writing motivation. High grades can lead to the problem of inflated grades. Inflated grades can lead to grade inflation. The subject of this study is to investigate the existence of high grades in primary school, secondary school and high school. The main purpose of the research is to reveal the existence, causes and consequences of high grades. The study group consists of teachers (n = 203) working in primary, secondary and high school educational institutions in Van. Case study design, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. According to the research results, the majority of teachers point out that inflated grades are given to cover up failures. According to the participants in this research, there is a problem of inflated grades at all levels of education. ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI, is one of the prominent models of artificial intelligence. The current study aims to examine the effect of ChatGPT on the creative writing skills and writing self-efficacy of fourth-grade primary school students. ChatGPT's feedback mechanism was used with students at the primary education level under teacher guidance. This research adopted a quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test control groups, conducted within a quantitative research method framework. The participants included 10-year-old students in the experimental group (n = 31) and the control group (n = 31). Data were collected using the Creative Writing Self-Efficacy Scale and a Creative Writing Product Evaluation Scale. According to the results of a study conducted in Van, T & uuml;rkiye, in early 2025, ChatGPT is effective in developing creative writing and writing self-efficacy skills with its feedback feature. The main purpose of this study was to reveal the early school leaving risks for girl students attending primary education in rural areas of east in T & uuml;rkiye. In the study, which was carried out using the relational research model, a quantitative research method, girl students attending primary education constituted the sample of the study (n = 515). Variables explaining the early school leaving risks of girl students were determined using CHAID analysis, a decision tree method. According to the research results, the high number of siblings in girls attending primary education is a dominant variable in the risk of early school leaving.Article Learning Losses Experienced by Disadvantaged Primary School Students in Rural Areas During School Closure(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2025) Kiziltas, Yusuf; Gonulal, HamzaDisadvantaged students are negatively affected by school closures due to factors such as holidays, natural disasters, and epidemics. Learning losses may occur with school closures. This research examines various aspects of learning losses due to school closures in disadvantaged primary school students in rural areas. Using qualitative research methods, data was collected through face-to-face interviews. Participants consisted of classroom teachers and school administrators (n = 50). Results found disadvantaged primary school students in rural areas were negatively affected by school closures and there was a decline in the reading, speaking, language, and mathematics skills of disadvantaged students. Early school leaving was observed over time, especially among female students, after school closures. Reinforcement programmes and projects are needed to eliminate and compensate for the learning losses of disadvantaged students.Article Why Disadvantaged Primary School Students in Rural Areas Have Lower Reading Skills? It is an important fact that students continuing their education in rural areas in eastern T & uuml;rkiye face many challenges compared to their peers in urban centers. The geography of rural areas can hurt students in several ways, particularly in terms of reading skills. The low reading skills of students in rural areas have been a serious problem in eastern T & uuml;rkiye for many years. National and international exam results also show that reading skills are lower in rural areas. In this study, the reasons for the low reading skills of primary school students in rural areas were critically examined through a literature review. The discussions include approaches such as the Matthew effect, spatial justice theory, and faucet theory. According to critical evaluations, the reasons for the low reading skills of disadvantaged primary school students in rural areas in eastern T & uuml;rkiye are pretty diverse. The socioeconomic levels of families, inequalities in opportunities and resources, school closures, negative factors related to location and geography, linguistic differences, problems with teaching materials, temporary teaching arrangements, and low levels of parental involvement are at the forefront.
