Out of 165 dissertations, totally 121 dissertations were included in detailed analysis because 44 of them were unauthorized. In this research, the dissertations were analyzed with document analysis in terms of variables such as university, year, research topic, method, design, sample type, sample size, data collection methods and data analysis techniques. In addition, descriptive statistics such as frequencies, percentages were also used by using SPSS-18 program. As a result of the study, it was found that mostly preferred topics in dissertations in the field of Curriculum and Instruction between the dates 2009-2014 are teaching-learning approaches/models/ methods and techniques, evaluation of formal education curricula, teaching-learning strategies/styles and their instruction, evaluation of teacher education curricula and teacher development practices. Furthermore, curriculum evaluation studies were mostly descriptive in which target curricula were evaluated based on perceptions of teachers, students, academicians etc. It was also found that in most of the dissertations between the dates 20092014 survey/descriptive design was mostly preferred, the most used research method is mixed method, mostly preferred sampling types [target sample] are teachers and undergraduate students, the most used data collection tools are scales and interview form. Considering the current state of Curriculum and Instruction field according to the results of the research, it can suggested that dissertations should be in a way that contributes to the theory of the field.Article Investigation of Beginning Teachers', Mentor Teachers' and School Administrators' Opinions About Teacher Induction Program(Hacettepe Univ, 2018) Kozikoglu, Ishak; Soyalp, HayriyeThe aim of this study is to examine the opinions of beginning teachers', mentor teachers' and school administrators' opinions about induction program. The study designed as a case study as one of the qualitative research methods was conducted with 15 beginning teachers, 15 mentor teachers and 10 school administrators working in Van province. Research data were collected with semi-structured interview forms. Content analysis technique was used for data analysis. As a result of the research, according to the participant's opinions, it was found that teacher induction program has some positive aspects for beginning teachers such as preparing them for the teaching profession by gaining them experience, providing them to have experience in administrative affairs and learn school's functioning, learning how to communicate with students, parents, and other school personnel, recognizing relevant institutions, having knowledge about the functions of the institutions and thus knowing which institution they should contact when they need. However, beginning teachers emphasized some negative aspects of induction program such as having to fill too many forms/reports; beginning teachers', mentor teachers' and school administrators' not adequately being informed about the program, beginning teachers' not spending the first six months of the program in the schools where they were appointed, having problems in practice despite being good in theory, etc. In this case, it may be suggested to make the current induction program more effective and functional by completing the deficiencies of the program, and to inform the target stakeholders thoroughly before the implementation process.Article The Investigation of the Relationship Between Teachers' Creative Thinking Tendencies and Individual Innovativeness Characteristics(Nesibe Aydin Education inst, 2020) Kozikoglu, Ishak; Kucuk, Bedirhan AhmetThis study aims to investigate the relationship between teachers' creative thinking tendencies and individual innovativeness characteristics. This study used correlational survey model and was carried out with 283 teachers from different branches working in Turkey. "Critical Thinking Dispositions Scale" developed by Ozgenel and Cetin (2017), "Individual Innovativeness Scale" adapted into Turkish by Kilicer and Odabasi (2010) were used as data collection tools. In data analysis; descriptive statistics (arithmetic mean and standard deviation), differential statistics (t test and ANOVA), Pearson Product Moments Correlation Coefficient and simple linear regression analysis were used. The results show that teachers' creative thinking tendencies are at high level and individual innovativeness characteristics are in the "early adopters" and "early majority" categories. While teachers' creative thinking tendencies and individual innovativeness characteristics did not change significantly according to gender, it was determined that teachers who had 16 years and more experience had a higher level of creative thinking tendencies and individual innovative scores than teachers who had between 1-5 years. A moderate, positive and significant relationship was found to be between teachers' creative thinking tendencies and individual innovativeness characteristics.Article Investigation of the Relationship Between Teachers' Philosophies of Education Beliefs and Curriculum Design Approaches(Cukurova Univ, 2018) Kozikoglu, Ishak; Uygun, NurThe purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between teachers' philosophies of education beliefs and curriculum design approaches. The study group of this research consists of 280 teachers working in Van province. In this study, "Education Beliefs Scale" developed by Yilmaz, Altinkurt and Cokluk (2011) and "Teachers' Curriculum Design Orientations Preference Scale" developed by Bas (2013) were used as data collection tool. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation), Pearson Product Moments Correlation Coefficient and stepwise regression analysis. As a result of the research, it was found that the educational philosophies that teachers mostly adopt are existentialism, progressivism, reconstructionism, perennialism and essentialism, respectively; they adopt student-centered curriculum design approaches at most and the subject-centered curriculum design approaches at least. It was determined that there are significant and moderate relationships between teachers' philosophies of education and curriculum design approaches. In addition, it was determined that perennialism and essentialism are significant predictors of subject-centered curriculum design approach; progressivism and existentialism are significant predictors of student-centered curriculum design approach; reconstructionism and existentialism are significant predictors of problem-centered curriculum design approach.Article Prospective Teachers' Cognitive Constructs Concerning Ideal Teacher Qualifications: a Phenomenological Analysis Based on Repertory Grid Technique(Gate Assoc Teaching & Education-gate, Switzerland, 2017) Kozikoglu, IshakThe aim of this study is to identify cognitive constructs of prospective teachers about ideal teacher qualifications. This study was designed as phenomenological pattern which is one of the qualitative research designs. The study was conducted with 36 prospective teachers selected from Yuzuncu Yil University, Faculty of Education. The study group was determined by using criterion sampling method as one of the purposive sampling methods. As a structured interview technique, ' repertory grid' was used for data collection. As a result of the study, 356 cognitive constructs were produced by prospective teachers about teacher qualifications and these cognitive constructs were grouped under ten categories namely communication skills, student centeredness, innovativeness, sensitivity, humaneness/joviality, teaching pedagogical skills, leadership/guidance, professional content knowledge, personal values and professional values by taking functions and similarities into consideration. Dominant categories of prospective teachers' cognitive constructs are teaching pedagogical skills, humaneness/joviality, personal and professional values. Their cognitive constructs play an important role in developing conceptual models of ideal teaching.Article Socio-Cultural, Psychological and Academic Problems of Undergraduate Syrian Students in Turkey(Western Australian inst Educational Research inc, 2018) Kozikoglu, Ishak; Aslan, MecitThe aim of this study is to determine diverse problems of undergraduate Syrian students at Yuzuncu Yil University, Turkey.
