Article The Association of Serum Uric Acid/Albumin Ratio With the Development of Coronary Collateral Circulation in Patients With Chronic Total Occluded Coronary Arteries(Tabriz Univ Medical Sciences & Health Services, 2023) Saylik, Faysal; Cinar, Tufan; Sarikaya, Remzi; Akbulut, Tayyar; Selcuk, Murat; Ozbek, Emrah; Tanboga, Ibrahim HalilIntroduction: Coronary collateral circulation (CCC) develops in chronic total occluded (CTO) vessels and protects the myocardium against ischemia in addition to the improvement of cardiac functions. Poor CCC is related to adverse cardiac events as well as poor prognosis. Serum uric acid/albumin ratio (UAR) has emerged as a novel marker associated with poor cardiovascular outcomes. We aimed to investigate whether there was an association between UAR and poor CCC in CTO patients. Methods: This study was comprised of 212 patients with CTO (92 with poor CCC and 120 with good CCC). All patients were graded based on Rentrop scores to poor CCC (Rentrop scores 0 and 1) and good CCC (Rentrop scores 2 and 3). Results: Poor CCC patients had higher frequencies of diabetes mellitus, triglyceride levels, Syntax and Gensini scores, uric acid, and UAR and lower lymphocyte, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and ejection fraction when compared to good CCC patients. UAR was an independent predictor of poor CCC in CTO patients. Furthermore, UAR had a better discriminative ability for patients with poor CCC from good CCC compared to serum uric acid and albumin. Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, the UAR could be used to detect poor CCC in CTO patients.Article The Effect of Self-Management Program With Tele-Nursing Based on the Roper-Logan Model on Self-Care of Hypertensive Patients: a Randomized Controlled Trial(Bmc, 2025) Erden, Yasemin; Yildiz, Guzel Nur; Ciftci, Bahar; Avsar, Gulcin; Ozek, Suemeyra; Ozbek, Emrah; Sarialioglu, ArzuObjectiveTo examine the effect of tele-nursing and self-management programs based on the Roper-Logan-Tierney Model on the self-care of hypertension patients. Material and methodThe population of this randomized controlled interventional study consisted of hypertension patients who applied to the cardiology outpatient clinics of Van Regional Training and Research Hospital between September and December 2022. The sample consisted of 60 hypertensive patients over 18 who met the study criteria and agreed to participate. Data were collected with the "Patient Information Form" and "Self-Care Management in Chronic Diseases Scale". Patients were randomized and divided into groups. Pre-test data for both groups were collected face-to-face. The intervention group received blood pressure measurement training with the "Hypertension Education Booklet" and self-management support with tele-nursing two times a week for 12 weeks. The control group did not receive any intervention. At the end of 6 weeks, interim tests were completed online, and after 12 weeks, post-tests were completed face-to-face. Data evaluation was performed with the blinding method. ResultsIt was determined that the differences between the mean scores of the intervention and control groups on the "Self-Care Management Scale in Chronic Diseases" midterm and posttest were statistically significant (p < 0.05). ConclusionIt was concluded that self-management support affects the self-care management of hypertension patients. Trial RegistrationThis research is a randomized controlled study. Therefore, a registration number was applied for at ClinicalTrials.gov. The registration number was obtained with the number "NCT05316454". Cardiacrehabilitation programs have shown promise in improving adherence to lifestyle and medical recommendations, yet theirimpact on clinical outcomes and complications requires further investigation. Methods:This prospective, randomized, single-center study evaluated the effects of cardiac rehabilitation on adherence andclinical outcomes in ACS patients. A total of 340 patients were randomized into a Cardiac Rehabilitation Group or ControlGroup. The Cardiac Rehabilitation Group underwent supervised exercise, dietary counseling, and education, while the ControlGroup received standard recommendations. Outcomes, including adherence rates and complications, were assessed over 1 year, with additional interim analyses to evaluate early sustainability of behavioral changes. Results:Patients in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Group demonstrated significant improvements in adherence to dietary rec-ommendations (73.5% vs. 52.4%,p< 0.01) and physical activity (85.3% vs. 68.2%,p< 0.01). Cardiac Rehabilitation Grouppatients also experienced fewer instances of weight gain (22.9% vs. 34.7%,p= 0.017) and access site complications (21.2% vs.40%,p< 0.01). Hospital readmissions were reduced in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Group compared to the Control Group (18.8%vs. 31.2%,p= 0.015). Non-adherence to dietary recommendations (HR: 2.42, 95% CI: 1.08-5.41,p= 0.032) and medical treat-ments (HR: 2.84, 95% CI: 1.32-6.11,p= 0.007) were significantly associated with increased risk of revascularization. Conclusion:Cardiac rehabilitation significantly enhances adherence to medical and lifestyle recommendations, reducescomplications, and improves outcomes in ACS patients. These findings emphasize the critical role of structured rehabilitation inpost-ACS management.Letter Infective Endocarditis Caused by Gemella Sanguinis: a Case With Fever of Unknown Origin and Anemia(Coll Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan, 2021) Ekinci, Omer; Ozbek, Emrah
