Abstract
Dönemin İngiliz oyun yazarı John Osborne ülke içinde yaşanan bu karamsar havayı ve özellikle işçi sınıfının yaşadığı ekonomik problemleri Look Back in Anger adlı eserinde ele almıştır. Her iki yazar farklı edebi türlerde de olsa ülkelerinin sorunlarına duyarsız kalmamışlar ve dönemlerinin politik, sosyal, ekonomik ve psikolojik sorunlarını eserlerinde yansıtmışlardır. Bu çalışmada İkinci Dünya Savaşı sonrası İngiliz toplumunu yansıtan İngiliz oyun yazarı John Osborne'un Look Back in Anger adlı tiyatro eseri ile yine aynı dönemin Türk toplumunu yansıtan Fakir Baykurt'un Yılanların Öcü adlı romanı Marksist bakış açısıyla öfke teması çerçevesinde ele alınmıştır. İki farklı edebi türde, iki farklı coğrafyada ortak amaç ve duygu çerçevesinde bu iki yazarın eser vermesi tezimin konusunun oluşturulmasında etken olmuştur.
Türkiye and England in 1950s witnessed many events that deeply affected the society. The economic, political and psychological effects of the events reverberated throughout the society. People living in various geographies and cultures experienced common problems and felt common senses during the same period. The industrialization that increased with the Second World War in Türkiye increased the migration from villages to cities. And village problems were brought to the cities. During this period, the neglected village life and villager gained importance. Yılanların Öcü was written by Fakir Baykurt in this period. As a social realist writer, Baykurt addressed the problems of the villages and the villagers. On the other hand, the unemployment and hardship experienced by the working class increased in England after the war and people felt hopeless about the future. The English playwright of the period, John Osborne, addressed this pessimistic atmosphere in the country and especially the economic problems of the working class in Look Back in Anger. They both were not indifferent to the issues of their countries and reflected the political, social, economic and psychological problems of their periods in their works despite writing in different literary genres. In this study Look Back in Anger by the English playwright John Osborne, reflecting the English society after the Second World War, and Yılanların Öcü by Fakir Baykurt, depicting the Turkish society of the same period, have been discussed from a Marxist perspective within the framework of the theme of anger. The fact that these writers produced their works in two different literary genres and in two different geographies with a common purpose and feeling has been a determinant in the formation of the subject of my thesis.
