Abstract
The quality of irrigation water is as important as the amount of irrigation water, irrigation time and irrigation method in modern irrigation. When there is not enough and quality water resource, water that is not suitable for irrigation is used. This increases the salinity problem in the soil. For this reason, it is aimed to evaluate the water quality in the pools used for irrigation in Hakkari province. For this purpose, water samples were taken from 10 irrigation pools in June, July, August and September. EC, pH, anions and cations (Ca+2, Mg+2, K+, Na+, SO4 -2, NO3 -2, CO3 -2, HCO3 -, and CI-) were determined in the water samples taken. Also, Sodium Adsorption Rate (SAR), Permanent Sodium Carbonate (RSC) and Sodium Percentage (% Na) values were calculated with the data obtained. At the end of the study, pH, EC, SAR, RSC and % Na values of irrigation pool waters did not exceed the limit value. But Mg+2 and K+ of pool water in Akçalı Village Kanatlı area and K+ value of pool water in Kırıkdağ Village-Şişer area were determined above the limit values. © 2021, Centenary University.
