Bilim ve Sanat Merkezlerine (BİLSEM) Devam Eden Öğrencilerin Karşılaştıkları Güçlükler

Abstract

Bu tezde, Bilim ve Sanat Merkezlerine (BİLSEM) devam eden öğrencilerin karşılaştıkları güçlüklerin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla nitel araştırma desenlerinden fenomenoloji (olgubilim) deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, Van'ın İpekyolu ilçesine bağlı olan Yusuf Gökçenay BİLSEM'de destek eğitimi alan 30 özel yetenekli öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Bu katılımcılar, araştırmada ölçüt örnekleme tekniği kullanılarak belirlenmiştir. Katılımcı grubun seçiminde en az 2 yıl BİLSEM deneyiminin olması ölçütü konulmuştur. Tezin verileri yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme tekniği kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Toplanan veriler, betimsel fenomenolojik analiz yöntemiyle çözümlenerek sunulmuştur. Araştırmada, özel yetenekli öğrencilerin BİLSEM'den memnuniyet duydukları ancak BİLSEM'de beslenme, erişim/ulaşım, eğitim-öğretim ve sosyal-duygusal gibi konularda güçlükle karşılaştıkları bulgulanmıştır. BİLSEM'de karşılaştıkları bu güçlüklerin üstesinden gelmek için; ailelerinden, BİLSEM yönetimden, ders öğretmenlerinden ve rehber öğretmenlerden destek alma, bireysel çaba, zorunlu tercihler yapma, zaman yönetimi, tüketim malzemesi satın alma ve öz düzenleme gibi çeşitli stratejilerle baş etmektedirler. Araştırmanın sonuçları, uygulayıcılar için rehberlik ve sosyal-duygusal destek odaklı öneriler sunarken; politika belirleyiciler için ulaşım, yemek desteği fiziki koşulların iyileştirilmesi gibi yapısal düzenlemeler; araştırmacılar içinse farklı sosyoekonomik bölgelerde karma yöntemlerle ve konunun derinlemesine incelenmesi yönünde öneriler ortaya koymaktadır.

In this thesis, it was aimed to determine the challenges encountered by students attending Science and Art Centers (BILSEM). For this purpose, phenomenology design, one of the qualitative research designs, was used. The study group of the research consisted of 30 gifted students receiving support education at Yusuf Gökçenay BILSEM in İpekyolu district of Van. These participants were determined using the criterion sampling technique. In the selection of the participant group, the criterion of having at least 2 years of SAC experience was set. The data of the thesis were collected using a semi-structured interview technique. The collected data were analyzed and presented using descriptive phenomenological analysis method. In the study, it was found that gifted students are satisfied with BILSEM, but they face difficulties in BILSEM in nutrition, access/transportation, education and social-emotional issues. In order to overcome these challenges, they face in BILSEM, they cope with various strategies such as getting support from their families, BILSEM management, course teachers and guidance counselors, individual effort, making compulsory choices, time management, purchasing consumables and self-regulation. The results of the study provide recommendations for practitioners focusing on guidance and social-emotional support; for policy makers, structural arrangements such as transportation, food support, improvement of physical conditions; and for researchers, in-depth study of the subject with mixed methods in different socioeconomic regions.
