Rehabilitation and Evaluation of Hakkari Center and Yüksekova Solid Waste Wild Storage Areas
Abstract
Solid waste wild storage areas are places where waste is accumulated in an uncontrolled manner and harms the environment. This situation leads to groundwater pollution, deterioration of air quality and threatening public health. In this study, the rehabilitation and evaluation of solid waste wild storage areas in Hakkari Center and Yüksekova were examined and how rehabilitation works could be carried out to eliminate negative effects was investigated. In the rehabilitation process of solid waste wild storage areas in Hakkari Center and Yüksekova, methods such as covering the waste, controlling leakage water and collecting harmful gases were applied. In this process, it was aimed to minimize the damage to the environment. In addition, it was emphasized how these areas could be evaluated. It was suggested that the rehabilitated areas could be used for green areas, parks or renewable energy projects. As a result, environmental and social risks were reduced by rehabilitating solid waste wild storage areas in Hakkari Center and Yüksekova and these areas were revaluated to be transformed into sustainable projects.
