Investigation of the Effects of Basic Statistics of Student Achievement and Attitude of a Computer Program in the Subject

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı, Temel istatistik işlemlerin öğretimine yönelik bir bilgisayar yazılımı geliştirmek ve bu yazılımın öğrencilerinin başarı ve istatistiğe karşı tutumuna etkisinin incelenmesidir. Araştırmanın evreni, 2014-2015 öğretim yılı Eğitim Fakültesi Güz dönemi Formasyon programında öğrenim gören Ölçme ve değerlendirme dersini alan (Temel istatistik işlemler konusu işlenmekte) öğrencileridir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 38 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma verilerinin toplanmasında, Yaşar (2014) tarafından geliştirilen ' İstatistiğe Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği' ve Araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen 'Temel İstatistik İşlemler Başarı Testi' kullanılmıştır. Tutum ölçeğinin güvenirlik katsayısı 0.927 olarak bulunmuştur. Araştırma verilerinin analizinde SPSS paket programı kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada deney ve kontrol gruplarına, deneysel işlemlerden önce ön test olarak ve uygulama bitiminde de son test olarak 'Temel İstatistik İşlemler Başarı Testi' ve 'İstatistiğe Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği' uygulanmıştır. Temel İstatistik İşlemler konusunda tasarlanan bilgisayar destekli öğrenme ortamının öğrencilerin akademik başarılarını arttırdığı tespit edilmiştir. Her iki gruba uygulanan İstatistiğe Yönelik tutum ölçeğinin sonucunda tutumlarının orta düzeyde olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. The purpose of this research is to develop a computer program for teaching basic statistics of the process and the success of this software is to examine the effect of attitudes towards students and statistics. The population of the study, the Education Department of the academic year 2014-2015 Fall semester studying in Formation Evaluation coursework programs (basic statistical procedures are subject to processing) students. The working group of the study is 38 students. In the collection of the data, which was developed by Yaşar (2014) 'Attitude Scale for Statistics' and was developed by the researcher 'Basic Statistical Operations Achievement Test' is used. Reliability coefficient of the attitude scale was found to be 0.927. In analysis of the data SPSS program was used. Research in experimental and control groups, as a pre-test before the end of the experimental procedures and practices as well as the final test 'Basic Statistics Achievement Test Operations' and 'Attitude Scale for Statistics' was applied. Designed for students of computer-aided learning environment Basic Statistical Process has been shown to increase academic achievement. Both groups as a result of the implementation of the attitude scale towards Statistics concluded that moderate attitudes.
