Investigation of Sheep Fattening Enterprises in Terms of Good Agricultural Practices in the Silivri District of Istanbul Province
Abstract
Bu çalışmanın amacı, İstanbul ili Silivri ilçesinde faaliyet gösteren koyun besi işletmelerinin iyi tarım uygulamalarını ne ölçüde uyguladıklarını tespit etmek ve böylece sertifika başvurusu için kritik kontrol noktaları konusundaki durumlarını ortaya koymaktır. Bu amaçla, besi işletmelerine anket çalışması uygulanmıştır. Anket soruları, Hayvansal Üretimde İyi Tarım Uygulamaları Kriterleri Genelgesi'ne ekli 'Hayvancılık Kontrol Noktaları ve Uygunluk Kriterleri' dikkate alınarak hazırlanmıştır. Çalışma kapsamındaki işletmelerin hayvanlarda kimliklendirme ve kayıt tutma faaliyetlerine önem vermedikleri belirlenmiştir. Sağlık koruma uygulamaları değerlendirildiğinde, işletmelerin tamamı sözleşmeli/anlaşmalı bir veteriner hekime sahip olduğu halde düzenli veteriner hekim kontrolünün olmadığı belirlenmiştir. Hayvan refahı, hayvan kimlik ve kayıt sistemi ile hayvan sağlığı konularındaki kuralları kapsayan iyi tarım uygulamaları bakımından işletmelerin eksikliklerinin bulunduğu tespit edilmiştir. İyi tarım uygulamaları sertifikası alınması hususunda üreticilerin teşvik edilmesi gerekmektedir.
The aim of this study is to determine the extent to which sheep fattening enterprises operating in Silivri district of Istanbul apply good agricultural practices and thus to determine the status of critical control points for certificate application. For this purpose, fattening enterprises were surveyed. Questionnaires were prepared considering Livestock Control Points and Compliance Criteria annexed to Circular on Good Agricultural Practices Criteria in Animal Production. It was determined that the enterprises within the scope of the study did not attach importance to identification and record keeping activities in animals. When the health protection practices were evaluated, it was determined that although all the enterprises had a contracted veterinarian, there was no regular veterinary control. It was found that there are deficiencies of the enterprises in terms of good agricultural practices including rules on animal welfare, animal identification and registration system and animal health. Producers need to be encouraged to obtain a certificate of good agricultural practices.
