The Small, Poor Person in Orhan Kemal's Stories

Abstract

Orhan Kemal, içinde yaşadığı topluma karşı sorumluluk taşıyan ve bu sorumluluk bilinciyle devrinin sosyal, siyasal ve ekonomik gelişmelerini gerçekçi bir perspektifle öykülerinde yansıtan, toplumcu gerçekçi yazar kimliğiyle dikkat çeken en üretken kalemlerimizden biridir. 1940'lı yıllarda Türk edebiyatında güçlü bir eğilim olarak kendini hissettiren 'Anadolu'ya yöneliş'; öykülerinin temel hareket noktası 'Sosyal Gerçeklik' olan Orhan Kemal'in öykülerinde 'küçük insanların' gerçekçi bir tarzda ele alınması biçiminde karşılığını bulur. Yazar, bu anlayışından hareketle öykülerinde çetin koşullara teslim olmayan ve toplumun alt tabakasını oluşturan insanların ekmek kavgasını, 'küçük adamların' zorlu hayatını işler. Orhan Kemal'in 'küçük insanların' ayakta kalabilme mücadelesini anlatırken temel amacı 'sosyal fayda'dır. Bu yolla okuyucuyu hem eğitmek hem de düşündürmek amacındadır. Aynı zamanda 'küçük insan' öyküsü üzerinden insana dair evrensel bir mesaj iletme kaygısı da taşır. Tez çalışması ele aldığı öykülerle Orhan Kemal'in 'küçük, fakir insan'ını ortaya koymaya çalışmıştır. Orhan Kemal'in eserlerinde işlediği küçük, fakir insan tipi, düzensiz bir toplumun parçası olan ve hayatın zorluklarıyla boğuşan, gelecekten umutlu bir insandır. Yazarın öykülerde 'insanı anlatma ve anlama çabasını' temel alan bir bakış açısı sergilediği görülür.

Orhan Kemal is one of our most productive writers that draws attention to the society which he lived in ,reflecting the social, political and economic developments of her era with a realistic perspective in her stories with responsibility consciousness and is known for her socialist realistic writer identity. 'Orientation to Anatolia', which was a strong tendency in Turkish literature in 1940s corresponds with a form discussing little people in a realistic way in Orhan Kemal's stories whose main starting point was 'social reality'. From this point of view, the author deals with the fight for the bread of the people who do not surrender to the tough conditions and form the bottom layer of society in their stories and the challenging life of 'small people'. While describing the struggle of these' little people 'to survive,the main purpose of Orhan Kemal is 'social benefit'. He aims to not only educate and but also make the readers think with this understanding. He also has the concern of conveying a universal message to man through the story of the 'little people' at the same time. This thesis study attempted to reveal Orhan Kemal's 'small, little man' with the stories it discussed. The little, poor human type that Orhan Kemal deal with in his works is people who are a part of an irregular society, facing the realities of life but are hopeful for the future.It is seen that the author applied a perspective based on the effort to explain and understand people in his stories.
