Analgesic Activity and Acute Toxicity Determination of Peganum Harmala L.seeds Extract in Mice

Abstract

Bu çalışmada P. harmala tohum ekstresinin medyan letal dozu (LD50) ve analjezik aktivite yönünden incelenmesi amaçlandı. Tohum ekstresinin LD50 dozu 0,178 ml/kg olarak bulundu. Analjezik aktivite deneylerinde ise, her bir gruba sırasıyla serum fizyolojik, DMSO, P. harmala tohum ekstresi, aspirin ve morfin uygulandı. Asetik asit ile ağrı oluşturma deneyinde, P. harmala tohumları 30 ve 60 mg/kg dozlarında aspirine göre anlamlı, 90 mg/kg dozunda aspirine göre çok anlamlı bir etki gösterdi. Tail Flick deneyinde, P. harmala tohumlarının 30 ve 60 mg/kg dozlarında analjezik etkisi 100 mg/kg aspirine denk bulundu ve 10 mg/kg morfine göre ise istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı bir fark bulunmadı.

The aim of this study was extract of P. harmala seed to investigate its median lethal dose (LD50) and possible analgesic effects. The LD50 dose was found to be 0,178 ml/kg. In the analgesic experiments, animals in the each groups were serum physiologic, DMSO, extract of P. harmala seeds, aspirin, and morphine. In the experiment of antinociceptive activity with acetic acid, the seed of P. harmala had an analgesic effect which were expressive to that of aspirin at 30 and 60 mg/kg and more expressive to that of aspirin at 90 mg/kg doses. In the experiment of Tail Flick 30 and 60 mg/kg doses of P. harmala seeds had an analgesic effect which was equal to that of 100 mg/kg aspirin and statistically no difference was found to that of 10 mg/kg morphine
