Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the morphometric measurement values of the gastrointestinal tract in Balb-c and Swiss Albino mice, to identify any statistically significant differences in these measurements between sexes and groups, to determine the correlations between body length, body weight, and morphometric measurements based on gender. A total of 32 mice, including 16 Balb-c mice (8 females and 8 males) and 16 Swiss Albino mice (8 females and 8 males) in the study. Mice anesthetized with the ketamine-xylazine combination were fixed in accordance with the technique. The gastrointestinal tracts of the mice were meticulously dissected and extracted. Subsequently, morphometric measurements of the gastrointestinal tract organs were obtained through dissection, and statistical analysis of these measurements was conducted. Upon examining the morphometric measurement values, ın generally, it was generally noted that, except for the MPG, MH, and JH measurement values in Swiss Albino mice, as well as the MFG and OPG measurement values of the stomach in Balb-c mice, the remaining measurements were higher in males compared to females. According to gender, mostly positive correlations were observed between weight and length measurements with morphometric measurements of the gastrointestinal tract in Swiss Albino and Balb-c mice, with statistically significant measurement values. Upon analyzing the measurement values using ROC analysis to predict gender, it was observed that the cut-off values established for the A, U3, JA, and JH measurements in c and Swiss Albino mice were determined comparatively. Furthermore, basic morphometric data were obtained that will benefit the determination of sexual dimorphism characteristics in these animals and studies in various clinical practices and scientific fields, particularly anatomy, related to the gastrointestinal system.Balb-c mice, as well as for the A and DH measurements in Swiss Albino mice had a high level of discrimination power and 100% discrimination (AUC) between male and female mice (P<0.05).In conclusion, the biometric differences between sexes of gastrointestinal system morphometric measurement values in Balb-c.
