The Relationship Between Refugee Movements and Labormarket: a Case Study on Van Province

Abstract

Göç, insan ve toplum bilincinde derin izler bırakan ve insanlık tarihi kadar eski olan bir olaydır. Birden fazla alana ve sosyal yaşam katmanlarına yayılmış ve küresel bir sorun haline gelen ulus ötesi göç hareketliliği, ülkeleri işbirlikleri geliştirmeye ve kapsamları ve boyutları ile örgütlenme temelinde buluşturmaya zorlamaktadır. Türkiye, küresel ve bölgesel krizlerde ve uluslararası göç hareketliliğinde kritik bir coğrafyadır. Türkiye'ye gelen mülteciler gittikleri yerlerdeki nüfusu ve coğrafi dağılımı; eğitim, sağlık, güvenlik, barınma ve ekonomi gibi çeşitli alanları etkileyerek hem toplumsal hem de ekonomik problemlere sebep olmaktadır. Dolayısıyla bu çalışma kapsamında mültecilerin Van'daki yerel işverenlere ve işgücü piyasasına bakışları araştırılmıştır. Farklı uyruklardan oluşan toplam 555 kişiye ilk kez bu çalışmada geliştirilen anketler uygulanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler ışığında, faktör analizi için Memnuniyet, Uyum, Sağlık ve Gelir olmak üzere dört faktör oluşturulmuş ve demografik değişkenler ile aralarındaki korelasyon incelenmiştir. Sonuçlara göre; yabancı işgücünün uyruğu, yaşı, medeni durumu, eğitimi ve cinsiyeti gibi demografik değişkenlerin ölçeğin alt faktörlerine göre istatistiki olarak farklılık gösterdiği bulgusuna ulaşılmıştır.

Migration is an event that is as old as the history of humanity, leaving deep traces in human and social consciousness. Transnational immigration mobility, which has become a global problem and spread across multiple areas and social life layers, forces countries to develop cooperations and to meet their scope and dimensions on the basis of organization. Turkey is a critical geography in global and regional crisis on international migration and mobility. The refugees coming to Turkey have impacts on the Turkish education, health, security, housing and economic systems. Therefore, in this study, refugees' views on local employers and labor market in Van were investigated. For the first time, questionnaires developed in this study were applied to 555 people who were composed of different nationalities. In the light of the data obtained, four factors such as Satisfaction, Adjustment, Health and Income were formed for factor analysis and the correlation between these factors and demographic variables were examined. According to the results; It was found that demographic variables such as nationality, age, marital status, education and gender of the foreign labor force differ statistically according to the sub-factors of the scale.
