A Determination of the Methods of Studying Chemstry and the Effects of Those Methods To the Success of the High School Students

Abstract

Bu araştırma, ortaöğretime devam eden öğrencilerin kimya dersine çalışırken hangi ders çalışma yöntemlerini kullanıp kullanmadığını ve bu çalışma yöntemlerinin başarıya ne ölçüde etki ettiğini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır.Bu çalışma 2010-2011 eğitim- öğretim yılında Van ilinde bulunan 8 ortaöğretim kurumunun (Genel Lise, Anadolu Lisesi, Anadolu Öğretmen Lisesi ve Fen Lisesi) fen bölümünde öğrenim görmekte olan 11. sınıf 433 öğrenci ile yürütülmüştür.Verilerin toplanmasında Holtzman ve Brown tarafından geliştirilen ?Ders Çalışma Alışkanlıkları Belirleme Envanteri? ve Uluğ (1981) tarafından geliştirilen ?Çalışma Alışkanlıkları Envanteri?nden faydalanılmış ve elde edilen bilgiler kimya dersine uyarlanmıştır. Oluşturulan ?Kimya Ders Çalışma Envanteri? öğrencilerin kimya dersi açısından planlı ve programlı çalışma, zamanı iyi kullanma, düzenli tekrar etme ve özet çıkarma alışkanlıklarını belirlemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Ayrıca öğrencilerin kimya başarılarını ölçmek için geçmiş yıllarda ÖSYM'nin sınavlarında sorulan çoktan seçmeli 10 soru ile ?Başarı Testi? oluşturulmuştur.Araştırmalar sonucunda, kimya dersine çalışırken, planlı ve programlı olan, zamanını iyi kullanan, düzenli tekrar eden ve özet çıkaran öğrencilerin daha başarılı oldukları gözlemlenmiştir.

This research has been done in order to detect which studying methods the students in high school use or don?t use and how this study influence their success of chemistry while studying it.This study has been carriet out with 433 students who are studying eleven grade of science department in 8 high school institutes ( general high school, Anatolian high school, Anatolian teacher training high school and science high school) in 2010-2011 Education and training year.While compiling the data, it has been utilized from ?Inventory of Determining Study Habits? which is developed by Holtzman and Brown and ?Work Habits Inventory? which is developed by Uluğ (1981), and obtoined data has been adapted chemistry lesson. The created ?Chemistry Study Inventory? aims at students? studying, planned and programmed, good-timing, repeating regularly and determining they habitits of summarizing for chemstry lesson. Also, in order to masure the students success in chemstry a success test has been created with to multiple choise questions which were aksed by OSYM in recent years.At the and of the researches, while studing chemstry lesson, it has been observed that the students who are studying regularly and planned, having a good sense of timing, repeating and summarizing are more successfull.
