The kinetics of dissolution of ulexite are inırphosphoric acid solutions have not been investigated so far.In this study, the kinetics of dissolution of ulexite in phosphoric acidsolutions for high solid-to-liquid ratios were investigated. Dissolution rate increasedwith decreasing particle size and solid-liquid ratio and with increasingto-temperature. The dissolution rate increased from 0.1 M up to an acid concentrationof 1 M and then decreased with increasing acid concentration, but stirring speed hadno more effect on it. When ulexite dissolved in phosphoric acid solutions, occuringreaction can be written as followingï ® 2Na++ 2Ca2+(aq) + 6H2PO-Na2O.2CaO.5B2O3.16H2O(s) + 6H3PO4(aq) (aq)4(aq) + 10H3BO3(aq) + 4H2O(l)In addition, the investigation of parameters showed that the dissolutionphenomenon was controlled by ash layer diffusion process and reaction rate can begiven as below[ 1-3(1-X)2/3 + 2 (1-X) ] =ktWhere t time, x conversion fraction and k is the rate constant.Key words: Boron, Dissolution kinetics, Phosphoric acid,Ulexite.i
