Effects of Family Support Centers on Rural Life: the Case of Van Gürpinar

Abstract

Aile Destek Merkezleri devlet tarafından özellikle sosyo-ekonomik gelişmişlik düzeyi görece düşük yerlerde kadının kişisel gelişim ve istihdam başta olmak üzere yaşam koşullarını güçlendirmeyi, katılımı ve güçlü kadın profilini belirginleştirmeyi hedefleyen bir amaçla kurulmuş çok amaçlı yerlerdir. Aile Destek Merkezlerinin kurulduğu yerlerden birini Van'ın Gürpınar ilçesi oluşturmaktadır. Gürpınar'da açılan Aile Destek Merkezleri'ne yaş, medeni durum ve aile özellikleri farklılıklar gösteren 300 kadın kursiyer olarak devam etmektedir. Bu çalışma, 2016 yılında açılan Aile Destek Merkezlerinin Gürpınar'ın toplumsal dokusunda kadın özelinde ne tür değişimlere yol açtığını incelemeyi amaçlayan bir araştırma özelliği taşımaktadır. Bu çalışmanın evrenini Van'ın Gürpınar ilçesinde Aile Destek Merkezlerine devam eden kadınların tümü oluşturmaktadır. Evreni temsilen amaçsal örnekleme tekniğiyle belirlenen 150 kadın araştırmanın örneklem grubunu oluşturmaktadır. Örnekleme dahil olan kadınlar ile yüz yüze görüşülerek anket uygulanmıştır. Aile Destek Merkezlerinin Gürpınar'da yaşayan kadınları etkileme biçimlerine bakıldığında; özellikle sosyal ve kültürel gelişim açısından önemli bir etkiler bıraktığı görülürken istihdama etkisinin ise sınırlı olduğu görülmüştür.

Family Support Centers are multi-purpose places established by the state with the aim of strengthening women's personal development and employment, especially in places with a relatively low socio-economic development level, to strengthen their living conditions, to highlight their participation and strong women's profile. One of the places where Family Support Centers were established is the Gürpınar district of Van. 300 women, who differ in age, marital status and family characteristics, continue as trainees in the Family Support Centers opened in Gürpınar. This study has a research feature that aims to examine what kind of changes the Family Support Centers opened in 2016 caused in the social fabric of Gürpınar, specifically for women. The universe of this study consists of all the women who attend the Family Support Centers in the Gürpınar district of Van. 150 women determined by purposive sampling technique representing the universe constitute the sample group of the research. A questionnaire was applied by interviewing the women included in the sample face to face. When we look at the way Family Support Centers affect women living in Gürpınar, it is seen that they have a significant impact especially in terms of social and cultural development, and their impact on employment is limited.
