Phytosociological Investigation on the Macrophytic Vegetation of Lake Van
Abstract
Lake Van has salt (soda) characteristics. Nine associations and two subassociations were described. The Potametum pectinati association was described in water. On the lake shore where the salt effect is high, mainly Puccinellietum gigantae, Carici-Menyanthetum trifoliatae and Triglochino-Bolboschoenetum maritimi were described. In places with salt, near to mouth of rivers flowing into Lake Van, Butometum umbellati, Sparganietum erecti, Scorzonereetum parviflorae (in the pasture with bad drainage lying at the back of marshy and muddy areas) and in flooded-beds Alopecuretum arundinaceae were described. Phragmitetum australi was the most tolerated association against ecological factors such as water level, saltness, etc. -English summary
