Van Y.y.ü. at Faculty of Medicine and Van Y.y.ü. at Dursun Odabaş Medical Center Comparasion of the Knowledge and Attitue the Faculty of Medicine Resi̇dent Physicians and the Students of the Faculty of Medicine About Traditional and Complementary Medicine

Abstract

Bu çalışma tıp fakültesi öğrencilerinin ve uzmanlık eğitimi almakta olan asistan hekimlerin geleneksel ve tamamlayıcı tıp hakkında bilgi ve tutumlarını karşılaştırmak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Yöntem: Van Yüzüncü Yıl Üniversitesi Dursun Odabaş Tıp Merkezi'nde uzmanlık eğitimi almakta olan 104 asistan hekim ile Van Yüzüncü Yıl Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesinde öğrenim gören 216 öğrenci ile toplamda 320 kişi çalışmaya dahil edilmiştir. Çalışma soru formunda; Sosyodemografik Bilgi Formu, Geleneksel ve Tamamlayıcı Tıp hakkında bilgi düzeylerini ölçen anket formu, Bütünsel Tamamlayıcı ve Alternatif Tıp Tutum Ölçeği(BTATÖ) kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Katılımcıların 168'i erkek, 152'si kadındı. Katılımcıların 53'ü uzmanlık eğitiminin birinci yılında, 51'i uzmanlık eğitiminin son yılında, 113'ü tıp fakültesi birinci sınıf öğrencisi ve 103'ü tıp fakültesi altıncı sınıf öğrencisiydi. Katılımcılar arasında en çok bilinen GETAT yöntemleri diyet, dua, vitaminler ve bitkisel tedaviler olmuştur. Katılımcıların en çok eğitim almak istedikleri GETAT yöntemleri hipnoz, bitkisel tedaviler, akupunktur ve yoga olmuştur. Uzmanlık öğrencilerinin GETAT uygulamalarını bilme durumu tıp fakültesi öğrencilerine göre daha yüksekti. Tıp fakültesi öğrencilerinin GETAT uygulamaları hakkında eğitim alma isteği ise uzmanlık öğrencilerine göre daha yüksekti. Katılımcıların Bütüncül Tamamlayıcı ve Alternatif Tıbba Karşı Tutum Ölçeği puan ortalaması 36 ±4,54 olarak bulunmuştur. Uzmanlık eğitimi almakta olan hekimlerin ve tıp fakültesi öğrencilerinin puan ortalaması karşılaştırıldığında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı olduğu (p<0.05) tıp fakültesi öğrencilerinin tutumunun daha olumlu yönde olduğu görülmüştür. Sonuç: Asistan hekimlerin ve tıp fakültesi öğrencilerinin GETAT hakkındaki bilgi düzeyleri düşüktü. Asistan hekimlerin tıp fakültesi öğrencilerine oranla GETAT'a daha temkinli yaklaştıkları, tutumlarının daha negatif yönde olduğu görüldü. Başta tıp fakültesi öğrencileri olmak üzere tüm sağlık çalışanlarına GETAT uygulamaları hakkında kanıta dayalı tıp uygulamaları ve bilimsel veriler göz önünde bulundurularak gerekli eğitimlerin verilmesi düşünülmelidir. Bu şekilde GETAT uygulamalarının kullanımı sonucunda ortaya çıkabilecek olumsuz sonuçların önlenmesi hedeflenmelidir.

This study was conducted to compare the knowledge and attitudes of medical faculty students and resident physicians about traditional and complementary medicine. Method: A total of 320 people, including 104 resident physicians, from Van Yüzüncü Yıl University Dursun Odabaş Medical Center and 216 students from Yüzüncü Yıl University Faculty of Medicine, were inkluded in the study. In the study questionnaire; The sociodemographic Information Form, the questionnaire form measuring the level of knowledge about Traditional and Complementary Medicine, and the Holistic Complementary and Alternative Medicine Attitude Scale were used. Result: 168 of participants were men and 152 of them were women. 53 of the participants were in the first year of the resident physicians, 51 were in the last year of the resident physicians, 113 were first year medical students and 103 were sixth grade students in the medical faculty. The best known T&CM methods among the participants were diet, prayer, vitamins and herbal treatments. The T&CM methods that the participants most wanted to study were hypnosis, herbal therapies, acupuncture and yoga. The state of knowing T&CM applications of resident physicians was higher than medical faculty students. Medical faculty students' desire to receive education about the T&CM applications was higger than resident physicians. The mean score of the participants on the Integrative Complementary and Alternative Medicine Attitude Scale was found to be 36 ± 4.54. When the average scores of resident physicians and medical faculty students were compared, it was seen that it was statistically significant (p <0.05) and the attitude of medical faculty students was more positive. Conclusion: The level of knowledge of resident physicians and medical faculty students about the T&CM was low. It was observed that resident physicians approached the T&CM more cautiously than medical faculty students, and their attitudes were more negative. It should be considered that all healthcare professionals, especially medical students, should be given the necessary training on T&CM applications, taking into account evidence-based medical practices and scientific data. it should be aimed to prevent negative consequences that may arise as a result of the use of T&CM applications.
