Gender İn Nalan Barbarosoğlu's Stories

Abstract

Toplumsal düzen içerisinde birey, toplumun uygun gördüğü cinsiyetçi rolleri gerçekleştirerek var olur. Toplumsal cinsiyet rolleri kuşaktan kuşağa aktarılır. Böylelikle ataerkil yapının oluşturduğu toplumsal cinsiyet varlığını sürdürürerek bireyin toplumdaki konumunu, görev ve sorumluluklarını belirler. Toplum, yarattığı kadınlık ve erkeklik olgusundan hareketle bu cinsiyetçi rolleri zorunlu kılar. Bu yapıya uymayan bireyleri çeşitli yaptırımlara maruz bırakır. Öykülerinde toplumsal cinsiyet rollerine yer veren yazarlardan biri de Nalan Barbarosoğlu'dur. Barbarosoğlu'nun öykülerinde toplum birey çatışması, kadınlık ve erkeklik kavramı sıkça konu edinilir. Toplumsal cinsiyet kavramı, kadın-erkek ilişkileri bağlamında sorgulanır. Öykülerde cinsiyet eşitsizliği, ataerkil toplumun baskıcı tutumu eleştirilir. Özellikle toplumun bireylere yönelik gelenekselleşmiş cinsiyet algısına karşı çıkılır. Kadın ve erkek söylemle eril yapı eleştirilir. Bu yapıda kadınların ve erkeklerin çeşitli toplumsal cinsiyet algılarına maruz kaldığına ve hemcinsleri tarafından dışlandığına dikkat çekilir. Her iki tarafın da cinsiyet rollerinden olumsuz etkilendiği öne sürülür. Bu çalışmada 1980 sonrası Türk öykücülüğünün çağdaş yazarlarından olan Nalan Barbarosoğlu'nun öyküleri, toplumsal cinsiyet açısından incelenmiştir. Yazarın öyküleri, kadın-erkek ilişkileri açısından incelenerek toplumsal cinsiyet konusu ele alınmıştır.

Within the social order, the individual exists by performing the gender roles that society deems appropriate. Gender roles are transmitted from generation to generation. Thus the gender created by the patriarchal sturucture continues its existence and determines the individual's position, duties and responsibilities in society. Society mandates these sexist roles based on the phenomenon of femininity and masculinity. It exposes individuals who do not comply with this structure to varios sanctions. One of the writers who includes gender roles in their stories is Nalan Barbarosoğlu. In Barbarosoğlu's stories society -individual conflict and the concepts of femininitiy and masculinity are frequently discussed. The concept of gender is questioned in the context of male-female relations. In the stories, gender inequality and the oppressive attitude of the patriarchal society are criticized. In particular, society's tradinational gender perception of individuals is oppesed. The masculine structure is criticized through male and female discourse. In this structure, it is pointed out thatwomen and men are exposed to various gender perceptions and are excluded by their fellow men. It is argued that both are negatively affected by gender roles. In this study, the stories of Nalan Barbarosoğlu, one of the contemporary writers of Turkish storytelling after 1980, were examined in terms of gender. The author's stories were examined in terms of male-female relations and the issue of gender was discussed.
