Examination of the Psychological Well-Being of Preschool Children and the Psychological Well-Being of Their Parents and Teachers

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı, okul öncesi dönem çocuklarının, ebeveynlerinin ve öğretmenlerinin psikolojik iyi oluşlarının çeşitli sosyodemografik değişkenlere göre incelenmesidir. Tarama yönteminin kullanıldığı bu nicel araştırmanın örneklemini, 5-6 yaş aralığındaki okul öncesi dönem çocukları ile bu çocukların ebeveynleri ve öğretmenleri oluşturmuştur. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak çocuklar için '5-6 Yaş Çocukları İçin Psikolojik İyi Oluş Ölçeği'; ebeveynler ve öğretmenler için ise 'Psikolojik İyi Oluş Ölçeği' kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda okul öncesi dönem çocuklarının, ebeveynlerinin ve okul öncesi öğretmenlerinin psikolojik iyi oluş düzeylerinin yüksek olduğu belirlenmiştir. Çocukların psikolojik iyi oluşu ile ebeveynlerinin psikolojik iyi oluşu arasında pozitif yönde anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuş ancak, okul öncesi dönem çocukları ile öğretmenlerinin psikolojik iyi oluşları arasında anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmamıştır. Ayrıca, çocukların psikolojik iyi oluşlarının çocuğun yaşı, okul öncesi eğitimi alma süresi, ailenin aylık geliri, annenin ve babanın eğitim durumuna göre anlamlı bir farklılık gösterdiği belirlenmiştir. Ebeveynlerin psikolojik iyi oluşlarının medeni durum, anne eğitim durumu, annenin yaşı ve aylık gelire; okul öncesi öğretmenlerinin psikolojik iyi oluşlarının ise cinsiyet, yaş, eğitim durumu, çalışılan yaş grubu, çalışılan okul türü ve sınıf mevcuduna göre anlamlı bir farklılık gösterdiği ortaya çıkmıştır.

The aim of this study is to examine the psychological well-being of preschool children and the psychological well-being of their parents and teachers according to various sociodemographic variables. The sample of this survey research, one of the quantitative research types, consisted of preschool children aged 5-6 and their parents and teachers. As a data collection tool in this study, the Psychological Well-Being Scale for 5-6-Year-Old Children was used for children, and the Psychological Well-Being Scale was used for parents and teachers. As a result of the research, it was determined that the psychological well-being levels of preschool children, their parents and preschool teachers were high. Although there was a positive and significant relationship between the psychological well-being of preschool children and the psychological well-being of their parents, no relationship was found between the psychological well-being of children and their teachers'. Significant differences were determined in the psychological well-being of children based on the child's age, duration of preschool education, monthly income of the family, and educational status of the mother and father. Also, a significant difference was found in the psychological well-being of the parents based on their marital status, mother's education level, mother's age and monthly income. Lastly, significant differences were determined in the psychological well-being of preschool teachers according to their gender, age, education level, age group they worked with, type of school they worked in, and class size.
