Investigation of Narrative Texts in Turkish Course Books in Terms of Structure, Content and Educational Principles

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı ortaokul 5, 6, 7 ve 8. sınıf Türkçe ders kitaplarındaki hikâye edici metinleri; yapı, içerik ve eğitsel ilkeler açısından incelemektir. Bu amaç çerçevesinde söz konusu kitaplardaki hikâye edici metinler tasarım ve resim; konu ve kurgu, tema, karakter ve kahraman, dil ve anlatım, ileti, çevre özellikleri ve eğitsel özellikler açısından çocuğa görelik ilkesine uygunluk durumu açısından ele alınmıştır. Çalışma nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden biri olan doküman incelmesine göre yürütülmüştür. Çalışmanın materyalini, Millî Eğitim Bakanlığı Talim ve Terbiye Kurulu Başkanlığınca 2023-2024 Eğitim ve Öğretim Yılı'nda 5, 6, 7 ve 8. sınıflarda Türkçe dersi için okutulan KOZA (5. sınıf), MEB (6. ve 8. sınıf) ve DÖRTEL (7. sınıf) yayınlarına ait ders kitaplarındaki hikâye edici metinler oluşturmaktadır. Elde edilen veriler betimsel analizle çözümlenmiş, sayısal verilerle ifade edilmiş, tablolar halinde sunulmuş ve yorumlanmıştır. Çalışmanın sonunda, incelenen ders kitaplarının yeterlik oranlarının tasarım ve resim yönünden % 70,53 ile % 84,78; konu ve kurgu yönünden % 81,25 ile % 93,57; tema özellikleri yönünden % 87,50 ile % 96,82; karakter-kahraman özellikleri yönünden % 85,83 ile % 96,66; dil ve anlatım yönünden % 88,03 ile % 100,00; ileti yönünden % 90,27 ile % 98,88; çevre özellikleri yönünden % 83,33 ile % 96,66; eğitsel ilkeler yönünden % 84,72 ile % 97,77 arasında değiştiği görülmektedir.

The aim of this study is to examine the narrative texts in secondary school 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade Turkish textbooks; to examine it in terms of structure, content and educational principles. Within the framework of this purpose, the narrative texts in the books in question are design and pictures; It was discussed in terms of subject and fiction, theme, character and hero, language and expression, message, environmental characteristics and educational features in terms of compliance with the principle of suitability for the child. The study was conducted according to document analysis, which is one of the qualitative research methods. The material of the study was KOZA (5th grade), Ministry of National Education (6th and 8th grade) and Turkish language courses taught in the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades in the 2023-2024 Academic Year by the Ministry of National Education, Board of Education and Discipline. It consists of narrative texts in the textbooks of DÖRTEL (7th grade) publications. The data obtained was analyzed with descriptive analysis, expressed with numerical data, presented in tables and interpreted. At the end of the study, the proficiency rates of the examined textbooks were between 70.53% and 84.78% in terms of design and illustration; 81.25% to 93.57% in terms of subject and fiction; 87.50% to 96.82% in terms of theme features; 85.83% and 96.66% in terms of character-hero characteristics; 88.03% to 100.00% in terms of language and expression; 90.27% to 98.88% in terms of message; 83.33% to 96.66% in terms of environmental characteristics; It can be seen that it varies between 84.72% and 97.77% in terms of educational principles.
