Examining School Principals' Moral Behaviors and Teachers' Organizational Alienation Levels With Chaid Analysis

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı öğretmenlerin örgütsel yabancılaşma düzeyleri ile okul müdürlerinin moral davranışları arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda öğretmenlerin örgütsel yabancılaşma düzeylerine etki eden değişkenler ile okul müdürlerinin moral davranış sergilemelerine ilişkin öğretmen algıları üzerinde etkili olan değişkenler araştırılmıştır. Araştırmada genel tarama modellerinden betimsel tarama ve ilişkisel tarama desenleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın evreni 2013-2014 eğitim-öğretim yılında Van ve Konya illerinin merkez ilçelerinde yer alan kamu ilköğretim okullarında görev yapan öğretmenlerden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada, merkez ilçelerdeki öğretmen sayısının evreni temsil ettiği oranda öğretmene ulaşmak hedeflendiğinden; örneklem seçiminde, oranlı tabakalı-seçkisiz yöntem kullanılmıştır. Buna göre araştırmanın örneklemi Van ve Konya illerinin merkez ilçelerinde yer alan kamu ilköğretim okullarında görev yapan toplam 1200 öğretmenden oluşmaktadır. Araştırma verileri; Eryılmaz (2010) tarafından geliştirilen Örgütsel Yabancılaşma Ölçeği, Balay (2011) tarafından geliştirilen Moral Erdemler Ölçeği ve araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan Kişisel Bilgi Formu kullanılarak elde edilmiştir. Verilerin analizinde, SPSS paket program yardımıyla, betimsel istatistiksel ölçüleri (aritmetik ortalama, standart sapma, standart hata, varyans, frekans ve yüzde) ve parametrik olmayan verilerde kullanıma uygun olan Spearman Rho Analizi ile CHAID Analizi ve İki Aşamalı Kümeleme Analizi (Two Step Cluster) kullanılmıştır. Analizler sonucunda öğretmenlerin örgütsel yabancılaşmaları ile okul müdürlerinin moral/ahlaki davranışları arasında negatif yönde anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Yapılan iki ayrı CHAID Analizi bulgularına göre öğretmenlerin örgütsel yabancılaşma düzeyleri üzerinde önemli etkiye sahip olan değişkenlerin; öğretmenlerin, okul müdürlerinin moral davranışlarına ilişkin algıları, medeni durum, yaşamın daha çok geçirildiği yerleşim yeri, okul türü, aidiyet hissedilen bölge, mesleki kıdem ve görev yapılan şehir olduğu bulunmuştur. CHAID Analizi bulgularına göre öğretmenlerin, okul müdürlerinin moral/ahlaki davranış sergilemelerine ilişkin görüşleri üzerinde önemli etkiye sahip olan değişkenler ise; görev yapılan şehir, cinsiyet, görev yapılan okulda çalışılan yıl, aynı okul müdürü ile birlikte çalışılan yıl, yaşamın daha çok geçirildiği yerleşim yeri ve medeni durum olarak belirlenmiştir. Öğretmenlerin öğrenim durumu ve branş alanı değişkenlerinin ise kurulan modeller içerisinde önemli bir etkiye sahip olmadığı görülmüştür. The purpose of the present study is to determine the relationship between the levels of organizational alienation and morale behaviors of school managers. With this motivation, the factors affecting on the level of teachers' organizational alienation and on teachers' perceptions about school managers' showing their morale behaviors are examined. Descriptive and correlational scanning designs which are the models of general scanning model are used in the study. The population of the study included the teachers working in public elementary schools in towns of city center of Van and Konya in 2013-2014 education years. In the study, stratified random sampling technique was used in order to preserve the ratio between the number of teachers working in these towns and total number working in both counties. In that respect, the sample of the study was composed of 1200 teachers working public elementary schools in towns of the centers of Van and Konya. The data of the study was gathered through 'Organizational Alienation Scale' developed by Eryılmaz (2010), 'Moral Virtues Scale' by Balay (2011) and Personal Information Form by the researcher. The data were analyzed by SPSS packet program, descriptive statistics techniques (mean, standard deviation, standard error, variance, frequency and percentage) and Spearman Rho Analysis and CHAID Analysis for the analysis of non parametric data and Two Step Cluster Analysis. In the light of statistical test results, there existed statistically significant relationship between teachers' organizational alienation and morale behaviors of school managers in negative direction. Based on the results of CHAID Analysis made twice, it was found that the variables such as teachers' and school managers' perceptions about morale behaviors, marital status, life space in which the most of the life is spent, type of the school, the disctrict that the people feel that they are belonged to, the experienced year and the city in which people work affect the levels of teachers' organizational alienation. Moreover, the CHAID Analysis results illustrate that the factors affecting the views about teachers' and school managers' showing morale behaviors are the city in which people work, gender, the experienced year spent in the school in which the teachers work, the eaxperienced year spent with the same scool manager, life space in which the most of the life is spent and marital status. Also, marital status and subject domain variables do not have important effect in the models.
