Population Change and Indication Values of Notonecta Viridis (Hemiptera: Notonectidae) and Chironomidae Along Lake Van Coastline
Abstract
This study was out on the coastal band of Van Lake between May-October, 2011 in order to determine usage possibilities of biological indicator related to habitat description and the environmental effects and different human activities. For exemplifications, 22 stations in 3 different characters which are natural habitats, settlement and places river entry point have been selected. Samplings were done with 35 cm atrap and plankton dipper whose net opening is 153 mesh. In the samples taken, pH, temperature, salinity, azote, ammonium, iron, copper, manganese, potassium values according to months have been measured. At the end of the study, Microchironomus deribae, Halocladius fucicola, Cricotopus spp. ve Chironomid sp species belonging to Chironomidae family were found and among those, Microchironomus deribae and Halacladius fucicola species are new records for Lake Van. In the study, the dispersion of the species whose population intensity was recorded under the effects of environmental factors are like this: it was observed that relatively high azote amount is high in Notonecta viridis and Microchironomus deribae populations; ammonium and salinity are significantly effective in the distribution of Microchironomus deribae, Halocladius fucicola, Cricotopus spp. and Chironomid sp populations.
