Investigation of the Effect of Modeling Activities on Operations With Fraction Numbers on the Conceptual and Procedural Knowledge of 6th Grade Students
Abstract
Bu araştırmada ortaokul öğrencilerinin kesir sayılarıyla işlemler konusunda modellemenin kavramsal ve işlemsel bilgilerine etkisinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma 2023-2024 eğitim öğretim yılında Van ilinin Tuşba ilçesine bağlı bir devlet ortaokulunda 6. Sınıfta okuyan 50 öğrenci ile yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada açıklayıcı desen karma yöntem metodu kullanılmıştır. Bu çalışmada, araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen kesir sayılarıyla işlemler konusuna yönelik kavramsal bilgi testi ve işlemsel bilgi testi kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde SPSS 18 programı kullanılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen verilere göre, kesir sayılarıyla işlemler konusunun öğretiminde, modelleme etkinleri kullanımının öğrencilerin kavramsal ve işlemsel bilgi düzeylerine anlamlı ve pozitif yönlü bir etkisi bulunduğu görülmüştür.
This study aimed to examine the effect of modeling on the conceptual and procedural knowledge of secondary school students regarding operations with fraction numbers. The research was conducted in the 2023-2024 academic year with 50 students studying in a public secondary school in Tuşba district of Van province. Explanatory design mixed method method was used in the research. In this study, conceptual knowledge test and procedural knowledge test on operations with fraction numbers developed by the researcher were used. SPSS 18 program was used to analyze the data. According to the data obtained from the research, it was seen that the use of modeling activities in teaching the subject of operations with fraction numbers had a significant and positive effect on the students' conceptual and procedural knowledge levels.
