Thematic Analysis of Ahmet Oktay's Poetry

Abstract

Edebiyatın birçok türünde eser veren Ahmet Oktay, 1950'lerden günümüze şiir yazmayı sürdüren üretici ve özgün bir şairdir. Oktay, 1952 yılında Ankara'da yayımlanmaya başlayan Mavi dergisi ile edebiyat ortamlarında ismi duyurur. Daha sonra ifade bakımından İkinci Yeni şiirine yaklaşan bir tarzı benimseyen şair, Marksist kurama bağlı kalmayı ve ?toplumcu gerçekçi? bir çizgide yazmayı sürdürür.Ahmet Oktay, şiirlerinde, imge yönünden zengin ve çok katmanlı bir dil kullanmıştır. Ancak şiirde anlamı göz ardı etmemiş; hatta şiirinin temelini yaşanan toplumsal ve siyasi birtakım olaylardan hareketle inşa etmiştir. Onun şiirlerinde toplumsal bakışın, varlığını daima koruduğunu ve birey üzerinden topluma gidildiğini görmekteyiz. Üstelik onun şiirlerinde görülen birçok temanın birbiriyle bağlantılı olduğu ve bir neden-sonuç ilişkisi içerisinde işlendiği söylenebilir. Bu durum, temalar üzerinden tam bir sınıflandırmaya gitmeyi engellemektedir.Ahmet Oktay'ın şiirlerinde özellikle baskın temaları belirlemeye yönelik bu çalışma, şairin şiirleri üzerine yapılacak daha kapsamlı ve derinlikli araştırmalar için yol açmak amacıyla hazırlanmıştır. Bu konuda yapılmış herhangi bir akademik çalışma bulunmadığı için, çalışmanın, bir eksikliği gidermek gayretinde olduğu söylenebilir.

Ahmet Oktay, who produced works in many types of the literature and has continued to write poetry since the 1950s, is an original and producer poet. Oktay announces his name in the environments of the literary with the Mavi magazine starting to be published in 1952 in Ankara. Then, the poet, who adopts a style which approches to İkinci Yeni poetry in terms of expressing, continues to be bound to Marxist theory and to write in a line of the 'socialist realist'.Ahmet Oktay has used a language which is rich in imagery and in a multi-layered in his poems. But he hasn?t ignored the meaning in the poetry; even, he has built the foundation of the poetry based on the experienced social and some political events. We have seen that the social view always keeps its existence in his poems and it goes from the individual to the society. In addition, it can be said that many of the themes appeared in his poems are linked to each other and are covered in a cause-result relationship. This situation prevents to go to the full classification over the themes.This study, which is especially intended to determine the dominant themes in the poems of Ahmet Oktay, has been prepared with the aim for more comprehensive and in-depth researches which would be done on the poet's poems. It can be said that the study is in an effort to compensate for a lack because the absence of any academic study done on this subject.
