Abstract
This study was carried out to examine the Digital Citizenship Levels of Students Studying at the Faculty of Sport Sciences. The universe of our research consists of 1357 students in total from the Department of Teaching, Coaching, Recreation and Management from the Faculty of Sport Sciences of Fırat University, and the sample is 1065 students. The 'Digital Citizenship Scale' consisting of 18 items and 5 sub-dimensions, whose validity and reliability studies were conducted, was applied to determine the 'digital citizenship' levels of the students of the Faculty of Sport Sciences participating in our research. The scale of our research was created via Google Forms and applied online in order to be easily accessible. The obtained data were evaluated in Spss 24.00 package program. The Levels of Using Digital Technologies and Political Activism on the Internet of the students participating in our study were Poor (n=78), 1.69±1.238, Moderate (n=523), 2.44±1.436, and High (n=464), 2.58. ±1.752, Digital Technical Skills Levels, Poor (n=78), 5.06±2.292, Moderate (n=523), 5.67±1.641 and High (n=464), 6.38±1.204, Digital Local/Global Awareness Levels, Poor (n=78), 3.16±1.660, Moderate (n=523), 4.58±1.644, and High (n=464), 5.46±1.568, Digital Critical Perspective Levels, Poor (n=78), 3.44±2.148, Moderate (n=523), 3.80±1.728, and High (n=464), 4.51±2.012, Digital Network Activity Levels, Poor (n =78), 2.24±2.083 Moderate (n=523), 3.22±1.872 and High (n=464), 3.46±2.104 scale sub-dimensions (p<0.05). As a result, it has been observed that the digital citizenship levels of the students participating in our research differ in terms of their level of internet use from a computer, their level of internet use from a smart phone, and their skill level of using digital technologies. In summary, as the skill level of using digital technologies increases, students' digital citizenship levels increase.
